Hey guys, I just noticed something. So far, as far as I know (I could be mystaken) their has been not a single new mega evolution revealed for pokémon Sun/Moon. Obviously we have'nt seen everything from the game and their is still alot to be revealed. But this is a big contrast from the previous games where almost all new pieces of announcements had a mega evolution.

My question is, are they dropping mega evolutions? In favor of Z-moves and new alola forms? It would be pretty ''nintendoish'' to drop something and add a gymmick that no one asked for (I'm looking at you Star Fox, Paper Mario and Mario Party). Cause when you think about it, the main goals of mega evolutions were to add something cool that happened only once during a battle and to give old pokémons a new life, both aspects accomplished by Z-moves and Alola forms.

Imo, it would be a real shame. I liked mega evolutions cause they added a new layer to the battle system. It changed the game drasticaly. Meanwhile, Z-moves seem to be nothing but a 1time 0HKO. Their is no interactivity involved and their is nothing more boring than getting 0HKO'd by some OP move. Z-moves seems to exist not to enhance the gameplay, but for the anime. They seem to exist to make the anime much cooler, with the characters yelling the name of the move when times look desperate followed by big explosions and stuff.

A super move that will destroy any of my oponents that I can only use once when times are desperate does'nt sound fun or competitive. I really dislike to concept but I'm ready to give it a chance, BUT aslong as they continue to build on the mega evolution mechanic. If they drop it completly and made it a 6th gen thing only, I'd be extremely disapointed (frustrated even).

They aren't something they will drop, they will simply move forward, they were the new thing in Gen 6, now the new thing are Z moves and Ultra Creatures.

Yeah, it is possible they traded mega evolutions for alolan related things, which is fair, but also lame. I imagine they wanted something unique to the Alolan area and not add new mega forms, but if would be terrible if you couldn't do mega evolution at all. I'd be fine with no new forms, as long as the current ones are still present.

I've heard some theories about that, it's a strong possibility.

I didnt like Mega Evolution anyway. Id be happy if it was gone

I used to dislike Megaevolutions. But then Alola forms showed up. And now im all like "we were better with megaevolutions". And thats it. Thats the story of my life. Learn from my mistakes kids.

But yeah, shame. Wasnt a big fan but if they already implemented the change they should follow through.

Surprised if they end up removing them in S&M.

Game Freak has done some weird design choice though, if I'll be honest.

Hopefully they keep 'em.Mega Evolutions are my favorite feature of the newer games.

Maybe it's a gen 6 exclusive thing? I think the alohan forms are stemmed from mega evolutions which is why they are choosing that over megas

Megas are basically a special take on original pokemons and the alohan forms are basically the same, in a sense

I like Alolan forms though.

Besides, all I care for(if mega evolutions are gone) is if we can still use them. I'd be pissed if they wouldn't allow mega evolutions to be used after gen 6. We got a good amount though- like 40ish.
