My problem with waiting on the anime is it takes them so damn long to produce it because the manga is still in publication.  I actually turned to the manga because I got tired of waiting for the anime.  Then I was reading through crunchyroll's manga app, but canceled my sub there a while back and thus didn't have anything but scans to go with.  Might be time to re-up.

unfortunately it's either wait for high quality episodes or get less waiting times with lower quality animation.

unfortunately it's either wait for high quality episodes or get less waiting times with lower quality animation.

I am not sure that it is the animation process that takes them that long though.

For example, with Sword Art Online, the writer didn't want them starting S3 until he finished the Alicization arc in the LNs.  Might be something similar with AoT.  If I recall correctly, the anime was only a dozen or so issues behind the manga when the show aired originally.
