Forums - PC Discussion - DirexctX 12 patch for Deus Ex Mankind DIvided Benchmarks - Guru3D

Well for PC users DX12 and Vulkan have been creating lot of buzz since there announcement. Low level API's and how they will improve the PC performance of games has been talked and discussed a lot with plenty of demos been shown showcasing some promising results however number of games taking advantage of this technology are not huge but that does not stops some PC developers from embarrassing it. However thing that has caught my attention recently is how certain AMD cards have shown tremendous performance gains using DirectX 12 or Vulkan. Doom was the most recent example which provided all AMD cards a massive performance boost and now we have another game which has some really shocking numbers. I will let the numbers do the talking for themselves from here onwards. Click the two links below to see how the performance compares on new AMD and NVIDIA Gpu's. Analyse the data carefully and then let's discuss it in the comments. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/deus_ex_mankind_divided_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,9.html - DX12 http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/deus_ex_mankind_divided_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,7.html - DX11

Yea AMD has generally been killing it when it comes to dx12/vulkan. The performance boost either goes from nb to craycray.

But to be fair, Deus Ex is a bit of an Amd favored game so... It makes sense why the Fury is beating the 1080 in dx12.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Wow thanks.

And i can't believe i'm looking at this benchmark. Coming from R9 Fury user. :|

Well, based on these results I guess I can bump up to 1440 on my lowly 1080 card...

Well I think even though Deus EX is AMD favoured game R9 fury is an old GPU if it manages to beat the latest GTX1080 Nvidia here needs to step up there game I have seen in Digital Foundry videos as well R9 Fury which at its launch time performed below GTX 980TI and Titan Maxwell now matches the performance of the above two and beats them in many DX12 games, this is very impressive for AMD users imo. One more thing if you look carefully AMD Rx480 beats Gtx980Ti and is a bit short in comparison to 1070 which again is impressive. Another thing I would like to point out Nvidia cards have generally not been able to match AMD counterparts in DX12 games but what's more surprising is in case of games which use volumetric lighting and other heavy compute effects are the games where actually Nvidia cards suffer.

Which graphic card do you have? Keen to now your performance gains as well.

GTX 1080.  Not really seeing any real gains in the benchmarks I ran.  Results below.

Very High preset:

Full HD DX11: 59.8FPS
Full HD DX12: 55FPS
4K DX11: 27.4FPS
4K DX12: Caused game to crash upon loading

High preset:

Full HD DX11: 59.8FPS
Full HD DX12: 57.1FPS
4K DX11: 29.9FPS
4K DX12: 29.9FPS

So far looks to me like I am best off sticking with DX11 and going with the Very High settings.

Not bothering with Ultra settings

yeh seems like Nvidia users don't have much to gain on Dx 12 and it certain games frame rate has even dropped for Nvidia graphics I agree that you're better with Dx 11
