Forums - Gaming Discussion - The PS4 Pro event made me realise something.

His mic is not on

Also, the way Andrew House presented the Pro was so ironically and awkwardly funny

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Yeah no excuses to complain.  Sony have been the most entertaining by a country mile this gen with conferences.  And the sales are backing that up. The people are entertained!

Wii sales say the 2 don't necessarily correlate. It could just be the PS4 is a good product at a good price.

Good product,  good games,  good price and exciting marketing and conferences.  You can see why the ps4 is the market leader and by a lot.

Marketing, yes. I would say no one touches the PS4 marketing. Conferences though, meh.

Maybe you're not primarily a Playstation fan and you lean more towards Microsoft or Nintendo but for us Playstation fans they've been very exciting and entertaining.

Cool, but you already stated most people don't watch their events, ect. So it's hard to believe now when youu say they are a reason people would want to buy it.

If they're streaming it for the general public, they have to make it reasonably interesting.

I'm pretty sure they were streaming for a subset of hardcore gamers and enthusiasts which is pretty much the opposite of the general public.

There is a device for people with no appreciation for visual quality and it's called PS4 slim.

I'm 100% sure that they were streaming it for the general public.  Unless the stream only worked for those with 10 platinum trophies or something, then it was streaming for the general public.  As in, everyone.

Preach.

LOL at anyone who actually thinks more than like 5% of the overall gaming market watches events like these or E3.

" Regular" people don't. I like Air Jordans, but I'm not going to watch a press event for an Air Jordan sneaker, most people feel the same way about game consoles but I'm sure there's a group of sneaker enthusiasts who wet their pants at such events.

Nintendo has a certain charm because they have personality and a refreshingly different approach that is more "innocent" (I guess I don't really know what the word for it is). They're just more charming. That's probably the main difference.

You could see it even at the Apple event yesterday ... Miyamoto totally killed it there, had the audience laughing with giant smiles on their faces like school kids and probably a good chunk of that audience didn't know who Miyamoto was before seeing him on stage there.

I always found them to be boring. Even MS puts a lot more effort.

They are like trying to take it serious, which always make me laugh.

Iwata was very good at this.
