Forums - Sony Discussion - Tomb Raider PS4 Pro vs PC highest Settings

And if you are going to make a comparison... Don't limit the PC to only 4k... Because it's actually capable of more than that. ;)

Here is a Geforce RTX 2080 Ti running the new Tomb Raider game in 1080p with Raytracing on.

Its like 30-40 fps though (most of the time).

Raytraceing isnt "easy" to do, its requires some sick hardware to pull off even in 1080p.

I'll be waiting for 3 more generations till I buy into the Ray Tracing hype. RTX still can't push it with a constant 60fps.

I'm pretty sure that the improvement that were applied to the pro/x weren't applied to the PC version, so it's not really a fair comparison. If I recall correctly, due to that the X version of the game was actually better than PC.

I have both the X and PC Versions. PC remains the better looker (and that’s before considering frame rates).

Never mind them. Was probably thinking of a different game.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

All of the textures look better on PC for me it only misses some brightness to draw our eyes to it.

The light looks as intended by the developer on the PS4 Pro.

Look at the PC version, that is not how light propagates, specially when there are other external light sources. The brighter artificial source should have a stronger effect than the natural light on both the character and the environment.

She is holding that neon type of light right next to her face and you can barely see the range of light on PC.

Apparently the PS4 Pro is coming with some extra tools that will help developers handle light in a more realistic way.

I agree. In my opinion, PS4 looks much nicer when you look at her face and its lightning.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

I bought Rise of the Tomb Raider on day one for Xbox One. Then I jumped on it on day one a year later on PS4 Pro. I wasn't really impressed by the differences or the differences in modes (resolution, frame rate, graphics). Then, I played the updated Xbox One X version.

Truth be told, you forget the differences minutes after you play. It looks great no matter how you play it and if I put a version in front of you (admittedly I haven't played the PC version) on my 4K TV, you wouldn't know which version it was.

are you trying to say a PS4 pro is as powerful as a $1500.00 pc? If the game looks and performs the same as the pc version it is not as optimized for the PC

Images and videos like this are a horrible way to make real comparisons between games. You have to see it face to face to get a real understanding of the difference.

If that's the case, Digital Foundry should never do any comparisons. :P

Truth is - you really don't need to see it in person. The comparison just needs to specify what's different between the versions.

The video they put up is just for show. Listening to them describing what they've seen in person is what you get out of the comparison videos. It's the whole reason Killzone devs release a download only video so you can get a better idea of how the game looks. Then on top of that if people are trying to use a 1080p monitor to see 4k graphics it's even worse.

Eh, the comparison(s) do their job. There are enough differences, most of the time, to justify them. And that is the case for ROTTR as well. You don't need to see them in person. Would it be better? Certainly. But it's not necessary.

I wouldn't say it's necessary but IMO the videos never ever do it justice and frankly it's not even close. I'll never forget watching BF4 videos online and thinking graphically the game looked ok but I was more in it for the gameplay. Got the actual game and watched it on my TV and I went from thinking the graphics were ok to looking very good. I pretty much stopped watching all videos online for graphical comparisons after that.
