Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft: Xbox Scorpio's power advantage over PS4 Pro 'will be obvious'

Next year is gonna be a fun year

Yes but Xbox will still be Xbox. Which means little to no Japanese games. No street fighter. No NI-OH. No persona. No yakuza. If it's just more halo gears forza, sadly I don't see it doing any better than the current One. Just prettier. I would like a return to 360 like software support and third party exclusives like blue dragon, eternal sonata, beautiful katamari, ace combat 6, and many other.

a whole year is a lot when sony is winning and ps4 amateur and ps4 pro are better than your main console and your console is not different enough.

I expect it'll be obvious in a similar fashion to the PS4 vs X1; significant to those that value the things through which the difference manifests, and minor to those who don't.

I wish it was the PS4Pro that was stronger since the Scorpio's advantage is somewhat wasted on me (i'd be incredibly surprised if my current PC isn't already significantly ahead of where the Scorpio ends up, which given MS's recent knitting of the PC and X1, makes the Scorpio a dumb purchase for me), but the Pro is certainly well priced so i'll likely pick one up early 2017.

Well, Scorpio will literally be 1 full PS4 more powerful than PS4 Pro and sporting beastly memory bandwidth and newer cpu cores. That's a decisive amount of rendering power.

I have such a love for Eternal Sonata.

Same here. Love that game.

Watch the Scorpio come out Holiday 2017 and the PS5 is announced for 2018. There's been multiple rumors that Sony is prepping the PS5 for 2018.

PS5 will probably come out in 2020 or 2019 at the earliest. Xbone2 will have some 45% performance advantage but it can't do native 4K gaming and have good detail both at same time. It will basically be Xbone games on 4K 30fps

That will never happen. The third parties that accepted MS money for 360 exclusivity regretted it later when their games tanked due to the fact that the audience for them, Japanese or North American, wasn't on 360. Most of them had to rerelease their games on PS3 with extra features to recoup their costs. For Microsoft, it served only to hurt the PS3 by denying it content, it didn't help the 360 in Japan. And with the Xbox One DOA in Japan, it wouldn't make sense for them to invest in Japanese games. Their audience is in the US and that's what they are focusing on.

For my part, I did buy a 360 for some of the mentioned games plus VF5 Online, but I switched to PS3 when Valkyria Chronicles came out.

Yeah this is pretty much the bind I'm in.

PS4 Pro doesn't really do anything at 4K native. No 4K Blu-Rays and the games are upscaled from a lower resolution, whereas Scorpio will probably have real native 4K games.

So I'm going to have to buy a XBox One S for Blu-Ray 4Ks at least, now I wonder if I should just switch entirely to the XBox ecosystem and make due with the XB One S for gaming for a year.

If the Neo can be $400 this year, I think the Scorpio should be the same.

Eh, I doubt it. I'm thinking $500 if they don't wanna eat a loss.
