Since the concept of the pro was leaked before E3, nearly three months ago at this point, and since Sony was dead set on revealing this no earlier than september, the internet has had three months to get hyped. Everyone using their imagination to try and figure out what the neo was, with Sony saying nothing the entire time. Tragic overhype is what occured, not only for the pro itself, but for the damn Playstation Meeting keynote itself. People were expecting new game announcements, old games being upgraded, half life 3, and whatever else as if it was an E3 conference. Seriously, big time overhype.

The console was hyped up to be a complete overhaul of the PS4, and that's just not what it was supposed to be. A PS4 is a PS4, so the pro wasn't going to look different, why? Because it wouldn't be PS4, it would be a PS5. It wasn't going to have a different shape, or be all chromed out or whatever, just a better PS4. After seeing what Horizon and Spiderman and Mass Effect looked like, I'm fucking hyped

Edit: Forgot to mention the lack of a 4k blu ray player, really dumb

Idk if it really suffers from the over-hype thing... What most people have an issue with is the lack of a 4k Bluray functionality, not really anything else imo. And that part is justified at least for me.

I'm just really upset about no UHD Bluray support. Maybe they'll do an upper-tier model for $50 more that has one...

I'm more disappointed in the Slim not supporting 4K video.

Exactly! You hit the nail right on the head. People were hyping up the keynote to better than E3.

I think the PS4 Pro was exactly what was expected except the no 4k blu ray player.

I mean heck the nickname is basically the PS4K, yet in terms of 4k its worthless.

I mean I totally could care less about the lack of 4k blu ray, however, considering there are obviously many, many people who still enjoy buying blu rays, and considering the marketing of the pro to be a 4k machine, the lack of a 4k blu ray player is an asinine decision especially considering the xbox one slim for $299 has a 4k blu ray

I was expecting a new game on the conference because today poklane posted someone that was somewhat important saying it would have a legacy game being announced there.

About the Slim/Pro, I'm only not satisfied with the Slim price, but with every other thing it was within my expectations (even the slim price of 299 was, but I was wanting it to go lower).

yeah i made a thread predicting the slim price to be $199 so i was way off there

Pretty much. I use my consoles as our Bluray players for our TV and that is one of the reasons why I was waiting for Neo. Our old arse TV broke so we are upgrading to 4k HDR and my parents rent/buy bluray movies so... This one was a downer.

The funny thing is the 4k player is irrelevant for most buyers. Like 90% wouldn't use it.  Only 10% or less actually care but it's an easy target to take a dig at Sony and so the meltdown brigade happily jump on it.
