Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Meltdown Over No 4K Blu Ray Player In The PS4 Pro

Tagged games:

I think it was clear when the PS4 released with a barebones blueray player that the focus of PS4 was fully on gaming.

If adding a UHD bluray player would have increased the cost of the PS4 Pro significantly (~$50) then i say its good they left it out.

Most people praised Sony when they made the decision to focus on gaming. I think now that a competitor has something over them, and theres been quite a fuss made about it on the net among hardcore gamers its become a talking point.

It would be funny if they did that in 12 months when the cost of the UHD drives have plummeted.  Release a new pro model and the only difference it has a UHD drive this time.  And release it just before the scorpio at a much lower price.

I wonder would the small amount of consumers doing u-turns now do another 180 and find their way back to PlayStation.  regardless the numbers were talking here are small and pretty irrelevant to the overall market.

Would that not make you mad?

If I were to be an early PS4pro adopter, I would be psised if they did that.

Companies do things all the time.  The early adopters generally don't get the best deal.  Look at xbox one and Kinect.  How many consumers would have preferred to save $100 and not have it included? It would have been the right decision for the consumer and Microsoft.  They would have sold a lot more xb1 at the cheaper price.  More is not always better.

I've never even bought a single Blu-Ray in my life. I've always either downloaded or streamed my movies. Who the heck pays $20 for a copy of a movie that they watch maybe three to four times in their lives? Shoving a Blu-Ray player in the PS3 was a huge mistake on the gaming end. It set the PS3 back in sales for two years. Now that Sony isn't repeating the same mistake people are complaining? Lol.
