Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Buying physical copies of Xone Games doesnt makes sense...

Tagged games:

Ok, I am not a follower from M$ clearly... but Ive tried, and Ive tried hard...

I never liked Halo, even tho, i was good at its multiplayer, so one day, at work, like 1 year ago, I had this copy of Halo 1 for PC. So I had nothing better to do, so started playing the story mode. I even payed it with the touchpad, because i had no mouse on my office. And for my surprise, I really enjoyed the story, the music, even goddamn masterchief. So I decided to go in a rampage buying a Xone as the first M$ Console that I ever had. And so I did. I even tought it was a good idea since I could play RotTR before (I have ps4, ps3, ps2, and even an old ps1) in the Xone.

Everything was OK until I put the MCC blu ray disc... It took ages for me to start to play since I had a 2 Mb Connection... But I took the waiting like a champ, so I could get to play again that awesome game remastered and in a goddamn big screen (60" instead of 14" from my work's laptop). But oh was I in for a ride... Every goddamn game that I buy, physical of course, have to download and install a hugeeeee amount of I dont know what data... Today I finished Halo 4 and make the mistake of wanting to play Halo 5 right away... Ohhhh dear, was I wrong... 41 Effing GB to update.!!!!! WTF is this? are you kidding me Microsoft? whats the point on selling Physical games at all?? Why do I need to buy a goddamn charger instead of being included?? why every goddamn time that I quit from the missions, the effing Xbone would ask if I want gold?????

5 Games and my storage is at 75%!!!!! only 2 of them are digital and were included in the bundle, otherwise I would have get them physical, but there would be no point at all since maybe Physical would require another huge amout of download data just for the game to actually start!!!!

I would never ever buy another M$ console ever forever and ever.

Well after all this rant... what do you guys think??

It's worth it for me. It would take me days to download a game, instead of the minutes/hour that it takes with the disc. Granted, I don't have an Xbox One, but considering that my PS4 can take a day to download 8 GBs of data, it would be a nightmare to try to download a 50GB game.

Yeah, I was talking just about Xbone. I have ps4 and the only digital games I have are the ones that come with the Plus... But in Xbone I have the Halo 5 Disc, and even so, it has to update 41 GB!!! Thats the ponint! Why would I have to update 41 GB if I bought the Physical copy!

There are PS4 games that have massive updates too, so this is not exclusive to the XBox.

Please, enlight me, because I have a lots of PS4 games, and not all toghether will add up to 41 GB in updates. No kidding. I dont remeber one of them being larger than 5 GB at most, hell 3 GB and I will shut up about it.

I think Guitar hero LIVE had the largest and wasnt even close to 5.

Did you try disconnecting the Internet and then booting each disc? I don't own either of the Halo releases on Xbox One so I don't know if they're playable without the patches (I recall Halo MCC's campaigns supposedly being completely playable without any patches); however, plenty of other Xbox One titles like Dead Rising 3 and Sunset Overdrive are playable offline without the patches.

If you want to play online or see achievements pop in real time, though, you're going to have to download all of the patches.

Yeah, I didnt try, I think thats the way Ill go from now on, on the Xbone at least, going totally offline, since I dont plan to play online anytime soon. But anyways, Updates are ridiculosly large. It would make more sense if a reedem code comes in the box instead of a blu ray. And what is worse, once I have downloaded the 41GB, I will have to have the goddamn bluray IN the console...

Street Fighter V had at least 20GB from what I remember.

I think it makes more sense to buy digital cause of the play anywhere thing

I think it does sound like they don't offer a good product/service. I hate intrusive DLC practices so that gold pestering would really anger me. Fable 3 had that aswell with weapons that require you to pay for online to upgrade them.

Microsoft can be way too agressive. Not that Sony or even Nintendo are perfect, but they certainly aren't as intrusive.
Also, on the PS4 you can start a game without the update (though you do need to install it fully on the HDD. I'm shocked that that isn't the case on the X1. It does sound quite bad. Glad i dodged that bullet.
