Forums - General Discussion - Islamic holiday may potentially fall on 9/11- Edit: it is confirmed to be on 9/12

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/542659/september-11-9-11-15th-anniversary-muslim-festival-eid-al-adha-celebrations-islam/amp?client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us

"The festival Eid al-Adha – the Feast of the Sacrifice – may take place on September 11 this year.

This means Muslims in Britain, the US and across the globe could be partying as many people are solemnly remembering the deaths of almost 3,000 people at the hands of Islamist terrorists.

The date of the festival – which is set by the Moon so changes each year – has never fallen on the sensitive date before.

And it may happen this year – on the special anniversary"

Man, what are the chances of this happening? I can imagine the amount of people who will think they're celebrating 9/11...

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

That's... troublesome. Not because of the date in itself, but because people are going to be angry.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I very much doubt rest of the world besides United States and maybe Canada caring about 9/11 and Eid being on the same day.

Of those two countries, I doubt it would matter in Canada outside of like your conservative radio host.

The States is what is left, and it could very much be made into a bigger deal than it is because 1. Media is stupid, 2. Small groups of people are stupid 3. Media likes putting the light on these small groups of people.

Well its not picked by anyone, so this shouldn't be held against anyone.

I think showing restraint in their celebration is not too much to ask for

Honestly if your a muslim and you live in the US, you should show respect enough to atleast not be out partying on that day.

If Americans want to pay respect to the lives that were lost tragically on that day, they have every right to. You can't demand others to do the same though, the world is full of worse or equally tragic tragedies that no gives two shits about.

Oh man I need some popcorn, I can only immagine how many dumb people would think they are celebrating 9/11

Stupid people are going to have a field day when that happens.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Well, given the Lunar calendar used to determine the days of celebration, the date shifts earlier by roughly 11 days each year.  I'm not going to math the Hell out of it, but I guess it would occur around every century or so, perhaps a little more frequently considering it's a 3-day holiday.  People should be informed of this if they start breathing fire or frothing at the mouth over it.  Due to the shifting of the date, the celebration would coincidentally fall on every day of the year sooner or later.
