Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Pachter: If the NX flops, Nintendo will still have 9.5 Billion dollars in the bank (They have 10 last time Pachter checked)

In Summary, Nintendo has 10 billion in the bank last time he checked which was this year and he predicts at its worst, Nintendo will lose half a billion if the NX flops.

I think as we get closer to the NX launch, there will be plenty of Nintendo is doomed threads and etc regardless of the design of the device. But it is important to know that this won't bring Nintendo to the ground if it fails.

For all the horrible predictions he makes, he is probably right on this one, since it is his area of expertise.Thats reassuring, even if not for the right reasons.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

*Insert opposite will happen whenever Patcher says something here*

In all seriousness, I hope the NX is successful.

Is anyone expecting the nx to flat out bomb, like Wii u level or worse? There were tons of factors that caused the wii u to end up the way it and I feel like Nintendo isn't dumb enough to repeat all of them again. Even if they go and only fix one major problem (the marketing, launch line up, release schedule ect) that would basically guarantee better sales than the Wii u

I learned never to underestimate Nintendo a long time ago. Its hard to expect anything when you dont even know what the NX is though...

I dont think anyone is expecting that but generally around new hardware announcements from Nintendo, we have "it will flop" threads. Usually Nintendo will go bankrupt threads follow those and etc but now we at least know that Nintendo will do just fine... Even if the worse comes to worst

Nintendo itself will be fine either way. Their console business will likely not recover if NX fails.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Actually, Nintendo has around 8.87 billion US dollars in current assets as of June 30 with the current exchange rate but it doesn't change the point one bit that Pachter raised so good job for him being reasonable since those are few and far in between ...

Yeah, but Nintendo's not in the business to lose money.

Where else are they gonna go?
