It depends ...

If the rumors were the equivalent of a wet dream to some people out there and Nintendo couldn't come close enough to delivering it'll be seen as disappointing ...

If people are afraid about the rumors becoming true but it takes a turn to be much more worse I would assume that's just one more reason to hate Nintendo ...

Ever since the fake controller 'leak', I really don't put any faith in rumors...

To be honest the rumors are making me lower my expectations anyway.

It could be basically a portable Wii U more or less. I hope the hardware is better than that, but it wouldn't be unlike Nintendo to gimp the system somehow.

I like the portability aspect of it for long flights, but it's going to suck to pay $250-$300 again for basically a "Wii U-2".

It's not about rumors.
It's about meeting the expectations of the market of the era its released.

Nintendo has been falling short of those expectations.

The wii ans DS met them in a different way but ultimately the lack of power of the Wii made it become a hard sell after 3 years.

So, with the NX, Nintendo needs to release something powerful enough to not be outdated in 2/3 years. But also give people the features they want and need in a gaming device

Wow i think this whole thread is out of context.

the RUMORS part has nothing to do with expectations but rather benchmarking against a 4 year old machine from Sony.

When someone throws out specs, some people naturally will go well it is 2017 these specs are shit. So they a;ready are disappointed. Then if the real product is worst, than they would be disappointed further.
