So if a console is able to do 4K imagine what it will do at 1080P / 60.

You couldnt be more wrong.

This thread isnt just a resction to the DF piece. That was just the final straw showing just how bad it really is.

Have you been on any PC performance thread on NeoGAF of late? or even the numerous posters on multiple forums saying how try are ok with 4k@30fps?

Or the numerous PC folks that would show screen grabs of their rigs running a game at some ridiculous rez that in truth they couldn't even play the game at 20fps.

If you think that there isn't a problem with the majority of the PC gaming space who seem to talk more about specs and I than actually talking about the quality of a game then you truly are lost.

No your truly lost. But i knew when i seen this thread was from you what its contents was going to be.

This is no different then Sony gamers acting like res didnt matter last gen when 360 used to have the higher res. Its also no different then how Sony gamers used to act like 1080P didnt matter, or how 4K didnt matter but now they are big deals to them. Oh wait am i generalizing a bunch of Sony gamers into the one pot?. Welcome to your thread.....

Welcome to his thread?

No. Welcome to your way of doing things. You're always generalizing and bring up Sony gamers whenever you can in your crap as if they stole your candy when you were a toddler.

All the OP demonstrated is he doesn't get what a resolution is.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Intersting. Please enlighten me. Unless of course this is just a silly attempt at trying to sound smart.

Some on PC are fine with 4k 30fps and some think 4K is only acceptable with 60fps.

Not really sure why this thread is trying to spin it in something else.

Just watch videos of reviews for the 1080 and read the comments. There is a huge amount of PC gamers who say they won't upgrade their rig as long as they won't get a GPU which will let them play most games with 4K and 60fps.

A lot of PC gamers complain about how 4K is still useless to them and how hey will only play in 1440p because they need 60fps.

Don't try to let it look as if PC gamers are all the same who change their opinion just to fit their agenda. Most PC gamers know pretty well what they want and prefer and sure, some care more about fps and some more about resolution. Some only want to play on ultra and some say that lower settings are also fine if they reach more frames with it.

That's the nice thing with PC gaming, you can decide what you prefer and you don't have to accept what the dev decides for you (well, some try to even on PC)

Am I the only one who thinks this drive for 4k gaming is a gross waste of resources? And that in the grand scheme of things it's one of the most irrelevant metrics to use and measure the quality of a gaming engine or a game period. I can think of at least 5 things I would rather see more of than a 4k resolution.

You are not alone in this, its one of the reasons why I think Neo and Scorpio are stupid ideas.

4k is expensive however it is affordable for premium buyers. Im not rich yet im buying a 4k PC at the end of the year. Sure if you want to run 4k at 60 with Ultra settings its going to drain your PC however you dont have to run 4k with Ultra settings. Consoles run 1080p with mediun settings and if 1080p is good enough for medium settings than why is 4k any different? If consoles ran there games at 720p im sure they can run all there games on high or even ultra settings yet many console gamers tend to prefer 1080p with lower settings over 720p with higher settings. How could we forget about the Battle of 1080p at the launch.

Either way it's not cheap to run 4k but its not out of reach for premuim gaming customers. The way ill run my games at 4k/60 with my future PC will be switching off AA and Hairworks or lowering the shadow settings. It will still look amazing especially in HDR.

Primarily, its ok for game to run at 30fps because they are in 4k.

I find that ridiculous cause of how console games are mostly pissed on for running at 1080p@30fps. PC gamers will talk up how they could run that game at 1080p@80fps or even 1440p at 60fps, but when it comes to 4k it's ok running it at 30fps?

I don't get it......

What's to get? If you want more of one, you have to sacrifice from the other.

4K is great for non-gaming. For gaming, I don't care for it as much but plenty of people still do and it's no rare sight to see people arguing about it.

Well dude you gotta remember that this is the internet. Yes they are loud (VERY LOUD) but ultimately they are the minority. Not everyone does it but the few bad apples in the so called "PC Master Race" can easily be spotted. Hell, you can spot a couple on this site but they should just be ignored. It's best to debate things like 4K with people who can listen to reason.

I agree that Neo and Scorpio are bad idea only because all there doing if offering a resolution bump. With PCs you get alot more than just resolution and also the choice between playing a game at 30 or 60. Thats why i shook my head at this gen of consoles when all i heard was 1080p. Theres alot more to do to  visuals than more pixels
