Let's say you are the King. No really, you are now the King. And your military starts executing people in your city because they don't meet the standars of "behaviour" that a very few "core" members of the nobility share. Anything that doesn't sit right with the "core", gets cut out as the difference in customs and beliefs will often be seen as problematic, if not offensive. Because only a few people will share the same perspective as the "core", your military will soon had killed a majority of the populace. Your city's activity might start looking something like this:

This will make the "core" very happy as they achieve the purity of "rite and faith" they always wanted but, on the other hand, your city might look more and more like a ghost town.  Just food for thought.

Change the behavior standards to where certain things can be done but not change it so that people can do idiotic things.

Gonna ignore the subcontext for now and just deal with the euphemism...

I'd flee to a different country. If my army were out executing people without my permission then how much longer before they turn on me? Best to just abandon the place and go somewhere better as soon as possible.

Actually, ya know what... that kind of fits the subcontext too...

Well, I guess it could be interpreted that the military is working behind the Kings back, but the way i intended it is as if the King gave full trust to the military and gave them the freedom to police the city with little to no input from himself.

I see. Would you please elaborate on the role of the core as well? And what exactly are the beliefs of the core?

I'd also like an answer to my previous question: Did you hit your head?

I think core beliefs are they had enough and that it is end of days or something grasping from this wrestling intro.

Was this analogy supposed to make sense or did you hit your head?

Maybe I only make sense when I hit my head.

Change the thread title to "Cooking Conundrum", then the whole thing will make at least some sense.

Given my culinary reputation here, it would be fitting. Perhaps if FunFan agreed to it I would

heh, yeah it doesn't really work that well

Assuming 'executions' is referring to permabans then there's really not been that many that have been 'executed'. Besides, apart from a few exceptions most of those were deserved.

A decrease in forum activity is much more likely to be due to;

A. Lack of interesting sales battles. Let's face it, we all know who's going to come 1st, 2nd and 3rd this gen in both home consoles and handhelds. There's nothing exciting to see there. But there was when that graph showed a lot of activity. The PS3/X360 were very close. This point is also backed up by the increase in activity around the PS4/XOne launch when people were wondering how they'd start out.

B. Lower than expected Nintendo sales. Everybody knows we've got a lot of Nintendo fans on this site. And I think it's fair to assume that most people like to talk about things more when they are doing well. Nintendo were doing insanely well when there was a lot of activity, now they've declined quite a bit and so has the activity. At least this guarantees there will be a pretty decent increase in activity around the NX launch though. If that goes well maybe the site can maintain some of that activity too.

C. The lack of updates. Seriously, this is a big problem. Software is better now with Machina dealing with it, but the big draw when we're talking sales numbers is always going to be the hardware and that just isn't updated consistently anymore. Ok the sales figures may not be as interesting as they were before, but something is still better than nothing.

D. The ads. Sure ads have been on VGC for ever, but there's only so much people can take and some of them have gotten really bad.

I'd say all of that's more likely reasons for a decrease in activity than the sites moderators.

What are you talking about? This is just an hypothetical situation. *Looks around nervously*

Not sure if this thread is going towards a lock, but the site's dwindling activity is not due to the mod team.
