Forums - Sony Discussion - Ruh-Roh - Will Sony be dwarfed by Apple's iPhone 7 conference?

Is the uPhone a home console?

No. Just another smarthphome by a company called Orange.

I get what you mean. CNet is more likely to give an Iphone announcement a front page article than a Playstation one. But overall I don't think it will be a huge deal.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Pretty sure a new iPhone is far bigger tech news than a new Playstation.

^ Not for any true gamer.

New phone is not nearly as intresting as a new console.

It's not a big deal because it's not like Sony is under some imminent threat from Nintendo or MS. No NX or Scorpio to worry about for the rest of the year and XBOne will be easy enough to beat.

maybe PSPhone ?

On tech sites? Sure
On gaming sites? Nope

No, not really even close.

The people that care about the Sony conference will care about it.
Those that care about the Iphone 7 will care about that.

They aren't competing or really have anything in common. This is an odd thread..

No, it's not. Yes, different market but I heard there might be people who have actually interest in consoles *and* mobile phones - some of them even own and use both.

The effect will be that the news media will talk allot about the Apple stuff because they are targeting even more users than Sony and these articles get a lot of clicks.

But at least the German media is already giving Sony a favor - golem.de, a site dedicated for IT professionals, posted an article that the slim will have 5 Ghz WiFi. What a time to be alive.

We know how that turned out.

Sony better stay out of the mobile market. Not because their products are bad but their success seems quite limited.

Come on now guys, Superchunk does have a valid point, the apple news will take precedence over the PlayStation news on the vast majority of main stream news sites, thus it will have the top articles over PlayStation products. So that's less free advertising to the mass market then they would have otherwise.

Yes they're not the same audiences, but never the less the timing of the apple conference does affect the exposure given to Sony by the press.

Now I don't think it's anything to be worried about but it's certainly not a "joke" thread.
