Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XV Director Talks PS4 and Xbox One Resolution, Frame Rate, Graphics and More

Square has been incredibly transparent about the development of FFXV since the re-reveal (perhaps to a fault) but I'd rather hear "close to holding 30 fps" than the numerous lies we get from most other developers whose games absolutely do not hold 30 fps.

I guess I won't be playing this until 2020 when it finally releases on PC...

On the plus side, I might get to play it in 8K LOL.

Screw waiting that long lol i suspect neo version will be much better.

Saying it will be "close" to 30fps as opposed to holding it is a bit worrying considering the poor framerate in both the game's demos.

For the PS4 version, he says it is close to holding 30fps. He doesn't say the framerate is close to 30fps. It is close to hold it. Meaning it is 30fps, but there are dips. The game doesn't hold that framerate at all time.

Hopefully he's not sugarcoating it, I've heard way too many devs say their game is locked at 30fps or 60fps when it absolutely isn't, or say their game "almost never" dips when it ends up dipping frequently.

I will probably never play FFXV, but I don't like the precendent that is set when games release with poor performance.

I think if he'd sugarcoat it, he would not be admitting that the game doesn't hold the 30fps target the way he did. Tabata has been quite transparent so far. I don't see why he'd change now.

It will be locked to 1080p30 on PC.

You are probably right which is really sad...I have great faith in modders, though.

That's sad but I think it's actually true.

My favorite experience with a 3D game was OOT on the original N64 and the resolution/frame rate for that game is absolutely disgraceful. I think 900P and 28FPS is just fine and anyone who complains needs to rethink their priorities.

Playing Pong was completely fine in the 70s. I think people expecting better standards than that in 2016 need to rethink their priorities.
