Forums - Gaming Discussion - FF xv delay because of ps4 slim?

Asriel said:
No.

Games go 'gold' (discs begin being manufactured) before actual development ceases in many cases these days. That's why there are day one patches, to add the data and fixes that the development team have made during the time in which discs are manufactured and shipped. In this case, the development team made the decision to delay the game rather than release a substantial day one patch. It's unfair on the (minority at this point) of gamers playing without an internet connection, because they get one version of a game, and those with the patch get a technically better product. It's a good decision to release as good a product as possible rather than require a hefty day one patch.

Yes, patches are not right. Releasing a complete product is best.

But what is the FFXV Neo bundle going to do? They don't have face plates anymore. Kinda kills the 'collectors editions' that they have been putting out.

I don't think a slim version needs any help selling. And why would Sony give a fuck if People buy the Slim or the regular?

Don't mean the slim need help but ffxv, as at the moment it looks it could need every help

Why? It's the most anticipated FF game in 7 years. It'll easily sell several millions right off the bat. And since it is a really bad one, people and critics will naturally love it.

Looking at the actual pre-orders i wouldn't say that it will sell that easy

It will once the reviews are out.

The delay was simply because of the growing trend of frame rate and pixel police. SE clearly said that the game in its current state would satisfy most of the gamers that play the game but their some out their that won't be satisfied. So it's basically the fussy f@&kers that find a game not running at 60fps and 1080p constantly completely overshadows the good gameplay and script of the game, it's all of a sudden a ruined experience because of the few times the frame rate dropped when you summed that gigantic skyscraper leviathan to wipe out the groups of enemies.

Simply blame the pixel police.

the game at gamescom was the unpatched game and still managed to get RPG of the show and peoples choice award.

The game won't run at 1080p60 no matter how long it is delayed, so that can't be it.

Also is it bad to try and satisfy as much players as possible and deliver the best product possible?

So putting some more effort in it to optimize the game experience and polish the game is now a bad thing?

Meanwhile i'll be playing Wild Arms 3 on PS4 instead, better game from a better time, while anticipating SE's future cries on how much money they lost in this project.

OP the slim is going to be out either before or around the same time as the game's original release date, why would that be the reason for the delay? You're not expecting the slim to be out in November are you?
