Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you have a game that might be your game of the generation yet?

Bloodborne and Overwatch are frontrunners currently.

The Witcher 3 might be up there when I finally get my hands on the complete edition in the next week or so. And if it's as good, if not better, than P4, then Persona 5 will be a contender too.

So far:

BloodBorne, The Witcher 3, Uncharted 4. They are all 10/10 for me.

If I had to give up 2 of them, I will keep the The Witcher 3, 10 times more the gameplay!

A Link Between Worlds. Sm4sh is a close second.

I dont think any PS4 games will change my mind, same with BotW. A Hat in Time, Yooka-Laylee, and Pokemon Sun and Moon could get up there, but I'm holding my excitement until I play them.

There's also Persona 5, but I'm getting it on PS3

Edit: I'll give a special mention to Splatoon, which, with all of its flaws, was still a fantastic game. The style and music is something I've wanted for a long time.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Uncharted 4, LBP3, or Ratchet and Clank for me

I am Iron Man

Uncharted 4 and Witcher 3.
Bloodborne would be a strong 3rd place.

I'm waiting for it, meanwhile Pokémon Y

I saw this thread and I thought Witcher 3 instantly.

However I don't think game of the generation is necessarily a good title in general. This is because there could be numerous games, each representing a different genre and each one could be named game of the generation. Instead I look at these games and recognize how they set a new standard within the industry, a standard which later games could easily be compared to.

Some modern examples.

Super Mario 64
Gran Turismo
Devil May Cry
GTA III
Metroid Prime
Halo
Gears Of War
Street Fighter IV

There are many more, some bigger, some lesser but I think Witcher 3 fits nicely and it will influence games for a long time.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Witcher 3 easy

It just did so many things right. It was the first open world game I played where I felt the world was real. The first game that I felt the beastiary was actually something more than just a pointless bestiary. First time side quests kept me as riveted if not more riveted than the actual main storyline. DLC back to how it should be or full on huge expansions. Vast and interesting cast. Choices feel real. You find yourself agonizing over what to pick for story/emotional reasons versus what gives me best reward.
