Because of this video, I was curious what people have played that might be what they consider the game of the generation for them up till this point, and might rival future games coming out. 

I actually agree with the video, and I am just near the end (I hear the DLCs are amazing, and I might pick them up, because I want to support DLC done right), Witcher 3 is my game of the generation right now. Uncharted 4 and Mario Kart 8 both came close, but neither felt as refreshing like I felt Witcher did. 

For those curious I had three way tie last generation between Last of Us, Tales of Vesperia (I sometimes don't include this, because it does have negatives as well) and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

I have to wait till November to play that, a friend from Florida is giving me that.

Dragon Age Inquisition, I've not played that many games this generation yet.... But Dragon Age, Rocket League and Mario Kart 8 are the standouts so far.

Witcher 3 no doubt. I'll be pleasantly shocked if another game this gen comes even close to it

As for now... I would say it's a tie between Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

Maybe Cyberpunk 2077 by the same studio.

Ok so for this Console generation it would have to be The Witcher 3.
If I would also include PC to this chart, Total War: Warhammer and Cities: Skylines would be my personal favorites.

I am sure the Console choice might change with Persona 5 next year since that is the main reason I got a Playstation system and Civilization 6 is deff the most exciting game for me for this year ^^
