Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dark Souls (The Original) Really isn't that good.

Dark Souls is awesome, 2 is as well, dunno how people say you should forget it, it's pretty damn good, even if easier than expected.
But Demon's Souls is the best of that style, and getting used to the fast pacing of Bloodborne legacy should really make things look different than they did back in the day, when it was on Demon's legacy account.

Vanilla Dark Souls II was the weakest of all Soulsborne games...

And was still the best game in the year it was released.

As much as I love Dark Souls 2, it wasn't better than The Evil Within.

So you're saying a game that was a predecessor to two games you loved, had some slight faults not found in it's successors?

It's almost like developers learn from their experiences on one game and then refine gameplay on the next entries.

Even without playing The Evil Within, it very likely was better than it

It's not like you can't play it, considering it released for PS3, bruh.

Yeah, but it's not really on the upper part of my backlog

That's your loss.

Not really, choosing Dark Souls II over it was very likely the best route.

The best route would have been choosing both, actually.

BraLoD said:

Not necessarily.

If I don't like it I could have spend that money with something else instead.

Even if I held on trying it because I heard the 7th gen versions aren't the ideal, which is the same with MGSV for example.

The thing about that is that you can't really know whether you like it or not unless you try it or choose to spoil it through internet. Trying to look it down to make yourself more comfortable with the option you already choose isn't very wise. xP

For the record, I 100%'d it with the DLCs included on 360, which is supposedly the worst version of them all, so there's that too.

I just doubt it'll be better than Dark Souls II, because it's great.

So is The Evil Within.

I'm not a huge fan of Souls (though I played through DS 1-3), but for me DS1 is definitely best out of 3.

I tend to like Souls for level design and not so much for combat (since I don't find it particularly good in any of them), but rolling simulator approach of DS3 kinda disappointed me...as someone who only tried Bloodborne for a little bit, that's exactly what I didn't liked about it (apart from setting being completely off-putting for me).

But I guess to each its own.

It not being a RPG makes it even being great not enough to top a great RPG, to me.
Unless it's TLOU or RDR great, it'll hardly have a chance against DS2.

Ah, then it's perfect because the game features RPG elements, such as leveling up, crafting and New Game Plus, among other things. That's it, you have zero excuses now.
