Forums - Gaming Discussion - Goddamit, retail stores.

So yesterday I went to buy a Pokemon game as a present for my little cousin. With all the Pokemon Go hype, he wanted one of those, so I went to see if I could find a cheap copy. When I saw the prices, I was stunned. The price for both X/Y and OR/AS just went 4-5€ more for a new copy and more than 20€ for an used one. Some retailers who sold it for 28€ an used copy are selling it now for almost 48€. And it seems that some online stores (and some retail ones) say that the games are out of print to keep the used prices higher than the new copies. They are not out of print, obviously, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the website, you have to go to thestore and ask for a new copy. I just wanted to buy a game, dammit! But now I'll wait until the prices go down again, maybe by Sun/Moon's launch.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

You'll pretty much have to wait for a Generation shift. So yeah, Sun/Moon, but the prices will likely still be higher than what you want to pay.

Pokemon rarely goes down in price

I've recently been getting into the whole DS thing, and the prices for Pokémon games there are just ridiculous. There's tons of copies available, but they all cost ridiculous amounts. Well, except for the cases where you get the game card only and nothing with it, and the game itself is shipped from China or some other trustworthy place... So yeah, I wouldn't expect the games to ever be cheap.

Nintendo rarely ever lowers the price on their games.

i Hope you're joking.

It's not really a store problem, more that Nintendo games barely go on sale and almost never have a permanent price drop (unless it is a Nintendo Select)

Here in Canada, Nintendo games have increased $10 from that of 2 years ago (hurray CAD!) and previous games that came out years before the increase also have gotten a price raise as well :/

Not unexpected that Pokemon games now would go up in price.
