Well, considering everything that has been said 'till now, what I picture from NX is this:
- Hybrid is probably BS. I think the sources are getting it wrong and actually there are going to be two devices. The portable one and a regular home console. Why do I think this? 3DS has aged and needs to be replaced. Wii U didn't sell well and also needs to be replaced. Launching just a home console would be risky, because 3DS cannot maintain Nintendo in case of the home console doesn't go well. Launching just a portable console is out of question, with the Wii U dyin' and the mobile market full of powerful tablets and smartphones for the casuals (hardcore gamers that play on mobile is niche). But what about a hybrid? There's no way, by now, of making an affordable and also not gigantic portable gaming device at least as powerful as the original XOne. A home dock wound't help that much either, because would need a lot of hardwork to programming for a thing like that. Having a home console will also enable bringing VR to the table if it makes sense.
- The games will work in both devices. So you can play at home and play on the go, but you don't need to pay more for a mobile with a dock or for home console with a tablet-like controller. You can buy just what you want and play the same games. Why do I think that? PSVita already can be used to play PS4 games, Microsoft is launchin' the same games for the XOne and PC. There's a strong trend of changin' generations for brand (with Neo and Scorpio) and Nintendo already unified the development teams previewing this.
- The portable device should be as powerful as the PSVita, the home console should be as powerful as the PS4. It doesn't need to compete with Neo or Scorpio, because third parties will focus on the PS4/PS4 Slim/XOne/XOneS for a while (probably for more 2-3 years), just making upgraded premium versions for Neo/Scorpio, since they are part of the same brand (like the NX portable and NX home). 3 years is time enough for Nintendo to think of his own more powered NX.
- There are going to be two types of controllers for the home console. The normal one, like Wii U Pro Controller, and one for motion controls game (I don't think Nintendo will totally drop the motion control bone by now). If you have the portable NX, you can also use it as a controller, both as a usual controller (but with a screen, like Wii U) and as a motion control with the detatchable parts.
If that is correct, I think Nintendo could have a chance of being relevant again, because some people like the Ninty IPs, but don't feel the need of a second home console. For them, there are the cheaper portable device. If is sells well enough, third parties will come aboard and since the games are the same for the home device, it will benefit people who buy Nintendo home consoles as well. And if you are already using the portable NX and most of the third's games are there, why not play them on the big screen with the home NX?
As of prices, I'd say $200 for the portable and $350 for the home device.
