Well if you intentionally constrain supply, of course stock with sell out quickly. If we don't have numbers, than I find this as meaningful as Apple saying the iPhone is selling better than ever because it sold out quickly. What about numbers?

Sony are constraining supply?

But yes numbers would be nice.

Of course. If you don't know if a product will do well, you always test the waters. I don't find anything wrong with the strategy, but don't compare sales with how fast something sells out if you don't know how much supply was in the market in the first place.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

The nice way of saying shipment numbers are small

Exactly.  Like when a niche title "sold through 80% of it's inital stock".  Yeah, of 100k units.

But they've had months of preorders to gauge success. The initial preorder allocations went very quickly, I'm sure retailers would be requesting more PSVR units as long as the preorders keep coming in and Sony will want to fulfill the demand. Like I've said, preorders went up months ago for Sony to prepare.

What does it said about PS4 Neo and the fiscal year ? Could it be this year ?

Having 1k or a 10k in stock doesn't change the pace of sale.

1.000 units of Product A and 10.000 units of Product B. Product A sells 100 units/min. Product B (former quickest sellout champ) sells 99 units/min. On an average Product A is still selling out quicker.

Not that i read much into this one report. No need. The overall image says, demand is high.

Well, from my impressions, each store mostly got about 4-5 preorders.

Hoping to get a bonus by the end of the year so I can pick one up

I know we've all been stung by the "fastest selling" stupid quotes in the past, but considering Sony are hoping for 1.5m sales of the device, I think they'll easily be able to manage that and sell more. I think the launch will sell more than Oculus and Vive have done to date.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

I think it may infact be sizable production numbers for Launch

Sony Targeting ‘Experiential Marketing’ for PlayStation VR

Sony Interactive Entertainment will offer in-store demos of PlayStation VR beginning this June.

It’s often said that modern virtual reality (VR) has to be experienced to be fully understood. It now seems that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) feel the same way, as the head-mounted display (HMD) manufacturer intends on offering 500,000 demo stations to retail partners across North America.

SIE Vice President of Marketing, John Koller, presented at a Gamestop investors meeting last week, stating that “Trial drives the conversion to purchase… We’ll have a fantastic technology, but you need to get your hands on it.”

https://www.vrfocus.com/2016/04/sony-targeting-experiential-marketing-for-playstation-vr/

And since Gamestop is just one of the retail partners , and it has done good there, that still leaves a sizable retail partner presence for the rest of the PSVR demo units..Bestbuy..etc

Since the demo test units is still PSVR units in the retail market even for demo's that's still 500,000 manufacturered PSVR headsets Sony has made sofar ..that's a lot..how many past that for retail ? 1 million total so 500,000 for launch or more?

Still 500,000 PSVR units already produced it a lot just for demo station purposes.

If that is the case with Vive & Rift , how long ago was that data of 200,000 units combined in last data count? Because Sony will have 500,000 PSVR units just for demo stations Alone
