You sound absolutely certain. Why?

Well what you described is pretty much the Vita TV. So I think he's got reason to be quite confident about that prediction considering what happened to the Vita TV.

Actually, what he described is almost like the rumored NX: a handheld device that can connect to the TV to play games on it.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Just make a console that runs digital versions of PS1, PS2, PSP, PS Vita games, that can also be connected to a TV and can be played remotely with DS3/DS4. For the right price I could see it doing well.

Yeah ... don't see where the development resources are coming from here. They couldn't even properly support the Vita when it was just the PS3/PS4.

A new Sony portable won't be better than what's in the NX either, the Tegra X2 for a mobile chip is basically the bleeding edge mobile chip, Sony is not going to get something better than that, so it won't even have that going for it like the PSP and Vita did.

A revised Vita model for Japan makes more sense.

If there is in fact a portable, then it is going to be a 14nm FitFET version of the PS4 APU, and it will be dropped to 12CU's and run games at 720p.

Any future PlayStation home or portable will share software under the new universal PlayStation platfotm. So, PlayStation games will be developed for PS4, PS Phone, and PS tablet/laptop. The only difference will be resolution and graphics settings.

Sony is building a platform around its custom APU, and they are going to have a shared experience across all of these devices. Xperia is on its last legs, and Kaz is showing that PlayStation is their future. He said late last year that mobile had run its course and there hasn't been any innovation in the space in years.

I would not be shocked to see this, although I see it making more sense to release it in 2018 with 7nm FinFET.

Yep, that's what I was getting at. ;)

The PS5 Exists.

I am hopeful. Even if its just a revision, it means Sony hasn't given up on the Vita. I can't imagine them announcing new hardware without new software, so fingers crossed.

When you buy the handheld and sign up for PSN+ for a year you get X months of PSNow for free. That would be an OK selling point for a new hand held I think. One of the problems for selling a PS handheld has been a slow to grow game library, if you can keep yourself entertained with PSNow for a while then that sort of overcomes the lack of games problem.
