I'm pretty sure it will get delayed.

That will be too sad if true since Zelda will have to get delayed again ...

At that point I wonder if Nintendo could even succeed with how they disregard punctuality ...

Six months are more than enough.

Exactly , the vast majority of early adopters already know about it, and that takes care of most of the early sales, plus the mainstream press will mention it .

If you advertised longer you have the situation of not having that sense of it's almost upon us in regards to anticipation, coupled with the questions is that extra money going to get more sales for a product, that most likely will face supply constraint's during the early shipment phases or add significantly to it's awareness.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

If they are indeed going with that detachable controller wings idea, they should have 1-2 games that come with their own controllers that are reeeeally wacky/crazy and play different. Trackball, Squishball, whatever controls, something different and arcade-y.

I know some people don't like that idea, but if that functionality is indeed part of the NX, then they should embrace it and make hay with it.

You have to give your marketing department something to work with.

Wii U had way more time than NX will have and Wii U flopped. If anything this is a good sign because if they are planning this correctly, then it means that Nintendo is confident in their product to leave so little time for advertising. It so we can hope.

They failed to get the mainstreams appeal and understanding. The fact that some actually thought the Wii U was a peripheral for the normal Wii, just shows their marketing teams failed. Giving them less time to work with isnt the answear. Hopefully nintendo hired new people to do it for the NX.

Less time for marketing a more complex concept isnt a good thing.

Nintendo had tons of confidence in the Wii U.

You cant really say its a good sign, or a bad one.

But I stand by that you need to give marketing time to work, its not just magic and 1 ad and you win over people.

I'm not saying that Nintendo sat down at a round table and said "We need to have less time to market it because of what happened to Wii U". What I'm saying is, if they feel that they can market this thing with such little time left, it must be a pretty damn simple console to market. Or else, they're out of their minds by default. If they think they can market a poor console successfully in 6 months, they're insane. If they think they can market a great console in 6 months, more power to them.

Idk, if they went with the something like that the hardcore base would immediately shun them. I do agree though. They do have to give marketing team SOMETHING to work with.

That's the beauty of the swappable controller idea, it doesn't have to replace standard controls, it can come bundled with one individual game, if a hardcore gamer is going to be insulted by an optional controller that comes bundled with a specific game that they never have to use, they're just an asshat. It would be like being mad that Guitar Hero comes with a guitar controller.

How many of Nintendo's HD games have been delayed? It's been a common ocurrance, it's hardly surprising. Nintendo regularly underestimates the ammount of work needed to make those games.

Better to be delayed than rushed and broken.

A delayed game isn't necessarily going to be better than people hoped for ...

Deadlines are what people should aim to strive for and Nintendo has had more than a fair share of their mishaps ...

Late isn't one bit acceptable in the academic or in the business world ...

Yeah, from an investor/business standpoint I can see them getting pissed about a delay but ultimately the game would be better for it. I saw some gameplay earlier and it didn't look as good as the reveal so I'm hoping they take their time with it.

You don't know that, if we take a look at the most extreme case such as Duke Nukem Forever it was far from true ...

A delay will give more time to develop the product but it will also be matched with higher expectations and if you don't deliver for the latter then it'll fall short quality wise ...
