Apparently it's not too unusual to lose a lot of players. Read this piece by PC Gamer for comparison to other games. It's not doing very well and the drop is sharper than other games, but it's not that much worse than a lot of other games. Obviously there are serious problems with the game, but it's not as dramatic as it sounds.

Looks like Steam Spy, I think. It's a valid site.

I've never bothered with Steam Spy so I'll have to take your word for it.

To be honest, I didn't even bother checking, but I recently used Steam Spy and it looked very similar to the picture. But now I had to check and yes, it seems to be identical to Steam Spy (i.e. it is Steam Spy). You might want to have a look at Steam Spy though. Just to know what it's all about. You don't need an account, and it's very easy to use.

Yeah, I had never bothered with Steam Spy until moments ago and just looked it up. OP's pic seems about right.

Thanks.

I'm about the same distance. Omegon is a bitch to find and needed for a lot of the higher upgrades.

Are you going to go straight to the centre or see if you can work out how the game works? I'm tempted to wait but I can always do more research on my second galaxy.

I'm still needing to get a 48 slot ship or whatever the highest is. I'll probably need about 15-20 slots just for upgrades.

Have you seen the round monoliths yet? I was stood there for ages to see if anything happened when the sun set or when the sun went down lol. There is a symbol at the front on the floor. If you look at it closely it appears to be three separate circles, one of which is out of alignment with the design, almost as if it should turn at some point.

I'm going to mess around a bit to get my ship and equipment they way I want it then concentrate on getting to the center.

Guys...if you don't like the thread subject, stay out of it. Surely there's a better place to discuss your current playthroughs.

Whoops! Got carried away!

When people have paid 60 bucks for a game, they are less likely to simply quit and move on. Instead they'll try to get at least some value out of the game they bought.

Steam users may want to return the money back, so they should not delay the process because of limits. I still cannot believe the average time is around 17 hours. That's impossible. Maybe this average stat doesnt count the players, who used the return?

the reason it's seems  high, is  it's the type of game where players who like it put in hundreds  of hours it's  open ended and pretty grindy.

Or the people that bought it enjoy playing it. I know far fetched right.

to be fair the patch that came out a few days after launch sorted out the performance issues and has since ran really smooth with no issues but it really wan't unplayable.

Hello Games have done really well. I commend the way they've dealt with issues quickly. Plus somebody pointed out the drop off was comparing midweek to weekend thus skewing the date . I'm not surprised when told certain people chose to ignore it. Anyway, I'm still enjoying it, it will maintain a good sized crowd and will expand with time and updates.

Why have they done well, I'm still getting launched off world and you never know when it will occur, so it makes it hard to do the extreme planet challenge also the game is still locking up with the error code.
