Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The sequels I’ll never have...

I just finished Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. One game I was really excited long before playing it because I’m an avid Atlus fan. I enjoyed most of the game, the music, the characters, etc. I had the same feeling when I finished XCX, wondering if I’m going to see more of these wonderful characters and their adventures and the answer is probably no. The kind of games I tend to love never have sequels. Like (and a lot of people are going to criticize me) Metroid Other M, a game that I loved. To be honest I hate most FPS games so that’s why I didn’t like Metroid Prime and I was one of the few people who were happy when Retro did DK Tropical Freeze instead of another Prime game. Can I dream of having a sequel to Metroid Other M? It’s like dreaming of a sequel of Tropical Freeze having King K. Rool as the main villain. I guess DKC 2 (best game ever IMHO) was the last sequel Nintendo gave me, and neither them or Atlus or Monolith Soft are going to give me a sequel of these games. Most of the games I like and received sequels are on Sony consoles, like Uncharted or God of War (not Catherine, though) and nor Nintendo nor third parties are going going to do the sequels I want (like Zombi U2 or The Wonderful 102 or the games I just mentioned). Maybe there is a chance to have them on the NX? What do you think?

There's a pretty good reason why Other M will never get a sequel, dude. Also the Prime games aren't FPS, they are first person adventure games.

Not even close, an adventure game in first person would be more like Shadowgate or Dejavu. The Metroid Prime games are first person shooters. The same as Turok games the core design is based on.

in shooters you obviously just shoot things in adventure games you explore and solve puzzles just like in metroid prime

I would never put Metroid Prime in the same boat as FPS like Call of Duty though. In the former the focus is obviously on exploration and puzzle solving rather than shooting as many enemies as possible.

XCX will give you a sequel! I am sure of it!

Switch!!!

Call me crazy - but I have faith we'll one day have a spinoff game to The Wonderful 101. Not a full sequel, but an eshop game.

But I really only say that because I think Project Giant Robot would be excellent if you made it a game where you played as GEATHJERK conquering Earth and other planets around the Galaxy.

Overall, I think Nintendo tends to be pretty generous with sequels - even when the IP doesn't sell that well. It's the third party games faded into memory that make me sad.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

ZombiU and Wonderful 101 sequels on NX? Not a chance, a true Paper Mario successor is more likely! It may not be for a while but I think we'll definitely see another Xenoblade, and as for TMS I think it just comes down to whether Atlus wants to do another, so maybe!

A sequel to Sly 2 .... :(

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games
