Forums - Gaming Discussion - So whats the point in the PS4s when PS4Neo is possibly launching next year?.

The X1S and PS4S are trying to do different things. They have different goals. Sony has gone the traditional root of bringing the price down for the consumer and offering a smaller system. MS has gone with smaller system but a higher price due to 4K.

I see MS having more issues with this as primarily people buy consoles for gaming and the entry point will be far cheaper with a PS4 vanilla or PS4S. Hell it might even be possible for the Neo to priced the same or very similar to the X1S!

I think the people claiming it was pointless were people that are certainly in the Scorpio Demographic, I didn't really see many people say it was pointless,

I do remember seeing many people however say it was silly to announce Scorpio after announcing the Slim, and the reason for this is that the XB1S is actaully a pretty decent upgrade from the XBO, so if people didn't know scorpio was coming they may have wanted to upgrade to that system.

The PS4 "slim" is not an upgrade over the original, it is a budget version of the console designed to be launched and sold at a low price alongside Neo, Unlike the XB1s I don't really see many people being enticed to upgrade from their original ps4 to this, it's target demographic is new customers AND people who aren't interested in Neo.

So yeah... the XB1s isn't pointless, the new ps4 isn't pointless. The only difference between the two is that the XB1s actually appeals to people who already own the OG XB1 and as such maybe annoucning Scorpio at the same time wasn't a good idea, business wise.

playstation always have a slim i thought PS1,PS2,PS3 and now PS4 which will most likely sell millions,tradition i guess,they have always had a slim

interestingly 3 of those consoles won the generation which must help slim sales

thats just some of the things i have seen on the forums here, and i do find it both strange and funny how fans can be so quick to contemn one thing and then switch their stance when it suits them like nothing has happened.

Names? Because the way I see this, it's a typical way of putting all comments made by members of a certain group, and call out the entire group for it, instead of the few ones that made such comments. In particular, some of them might feel it's "pointless" for XBO, but never even commented about the PS equivalent. But since you saw the comment made by "members of the PS group", you say it was said by that group instead of that certain indivual. 

So again, give us specific names. Thanks.

I can't remember anybody making that claim. You could be right but I've seen some wild claims made by you in other threads.
So, like any claim please source and give us some quotes.
I've seen people say it's a silly move to announce the Scorpio early and justified their opinion, but if people have said what you claim then they are flat out wrong.

A PS4 Slim is a bit pointless, and The PS4 is already slim.

Xbox One Slim isn't pointless, it's a big improvement. The Scorpio however is kind of pointless.

"Play your Xbox games in 4K!" Urr we can already do that on a PC that costs as much as your Scorpio and we don't have to wait till holiday 2017 to do it.

It should be cheaper due to lower manufacturing and shipping costs, simple as that.

Yeah, I don't remember this at all. The only argument about the XB1 Slim vs. Scorpio I remember is that Slim sales will get hurt to a certain extend due to Microsoft already announcing the Scorpio this early, meaning some people will wait for the Scorpio instead of getting the Slim right now, which is a good argument. I don't remember anyone claiming that the XB1 Slim is pointless.
