Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Eidos Montreal "Never Thought About The NX" For Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

" According to Mankind Divided studio Eidos Montreal, NX is a total mystery and therefore doesn't figure in its plans for the game. Finder.com asked producer Olivier Proulx about the chances of an NX port, and got a pretty flat reply:

Square is known to support the NX with Dragon Quest and we also saw the director's cut of Human Revolution appear as one of the first games on Wii U - would you want to see Mankind Divided on NX one day?

We've never thought about the NX. Right now there's nothing new to announce there. We've just been looking at PC, Xbox One and PS4, and that's been our focus.

Well, if you were a betting man, what do you reckon the chances are?

I can't be that obvious. I can't bet on this. (laughs)"

It makes that Mankinded Divided won't come to the NX. It's the same deal as Take-Two, the game will be 7 months old when the NX launches so it wouldn't make much sense to port it.

This is the fucking problem with third parties.

The endless chicken and egg of "we can't sell on Nintendo platforms because we never make games for them"

I LOVE ICELAND!

How unsurprising...

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I'm going to play the game today, I'm excited :D

anyway, on topic, late ports were not a good thing for the wii u because everybody was saying "why would I buy a new console for old ports" well not everyone, but it was a trend. And it's kinda true you know although the director's cut for the wii u was great, was too late. This time would be more than 6 months late, not a month or two, so it would be the same scenario and the sales are going to be eclipsed by bigger/newer games. so a port of the goty edition or director's cut edition would be better.

Well it's not the third parties fault, just saying.

That is good though. Since the NX wont release for another 6-7 months, old ports was something that really didnt help the Wii U.

There is only one option for Nintendo to get 3rd-party games on the NX: pay for the ports. It will cost them not that much money but the installed base will increase very fast.

We know little about the NX. When you allow game development on unreleased hardware by a third-party studio you risk the chance of an early leak.

Nintendo is smart about this and usually launches with first party only titles to minimize the risk of leaks.

It does not mean that Dues Ex could not be ported at a later time. I am confident that we will see several current gen ports and simultaneous releases once the NX is actually out.

They didn't think about releasing the game on a console that is at best 7 months away from release? Color me surprised.

Nah, plenty of third party games sold great on the NES and SNES. it's just that Nintendo platforms are a giant pain in the ass to develop for, Nintendo is difficult to work with, and Nintendo tends to not give a crap. Even in the NES and SNES developers most only developed for those platforms because they were super popular. Then the Wii came along and was popular once again, and Nintendo demonstrated once again they really didn't care about third parties, and even worse, appeared to be completely oblivous to what their competitors were doing when third parties asked about solutions to integrate xbox-live networking into Nintendo's equivalent.

But please don't take my word for it.  There are plenty of stories out there to support this besides my first-hand experrience.
