What a joke! No Lord of the Rings means this list has no weight whatsoever. Return of the King has the record for the most oscars and is placed in the top 10 films on imdb. Its the greatest trilogy of all time and it's really hard to disagree with that. You cant take this list seriously at all if they failed to mention at least one of the Lotr's films.

Is really stupid to think a list is shit or has no weight because one single movie you like is not in there even when there's a huge amount of other modern classics in it.

It doesn't really matter how many amazing movies are on the list, if any of the top 5 were not on the list it would be easy to call that list crappy. For me, that's how I feel about them not including any from the LotR trilogy.

Haven't even heard of the majority of them. I've only seen 6 of them and wouldn't put single one of those 6 in to a top 100 list...

Oh and Inglourious Basterds? Seriously? I mean it wasn't a bad film by any means, probably the best one in that whole list actually, but if there's only room for a single Tarantino film then it shouldn't have been that one...

I was convinced Django would show up further up the list, but then it didn't.....

I'm happy to see spirited away so far up the list though.

Pretty bogus list since it doesn't have Letter from Iwo Jima. Also 12 Years a Slave should be in the top 25.

Critics don't like fantasies, and I'm not sure why.

Edit: actually, I know why. It's because they're too busy being pretentious and serious about their work to admit they like such a "childish" thing.

A few Pixar films are on the list, plus things like Pan's Labrynth and Spirited Away. We don't know exactly how the list was compiled do we? It might be a case of the 177 critics were asked what their view of the best 10 are and then a list was formed from that from recuring entries. Maybe the critics just didn't like the LotR trilogy more than 10 other films. That doesn't mean the LotR films or whatever film not on the list isn't a good film as these are 100 of several thousand made in the last 16 years.

Hmm, pie.

Another reason the list is pretty bogus it has no pure comedy on it Borat (2006) should have made it its easily one of the best pure comedies of the last 20 years.

Not a bad list but a few missing imo

Switch!!!

So Birdman didn't make the list at all. Good riddance. Mad Max didn't deserve to be there either though. IMO, obviously.

Still nice list. I've saved it and I plan to watch all the ones I missed. Which are a lot, actually!

EDIT: Double post, sorry!

Pretty good list imo. I've seen almost all of them, and they're all great films (except for Tree of Life, ew...). I miss Interstellar, but the film wasn't widely praised, so that was expected. Dogville is my favourite film of the century, with Memento, Wall-E, Oldboy, Pan's Labyrinth and Mad Max being close.

Those 3 are in my top 10, all masterpieces.

Interstellar is a good movie in the execution however is deeply stupid in its concept and relies too much in cheap emotional tricks to hide its empty nonsense, I enjoyed it cause is well directed and is visually brilliant but I don't think it belongs to this ranking. Still better than Spring Breakers though.
