heh, describing everything wrong with film critics right there.

Who cares about some 'deep message' which chances are was unintentional anyway. Was the film enjoyable to watch? That's what matters...

They didn't love Mad Max Fury Road because it was an exceptional film, they loved it because of how it was made. It won 6 Oscars... all technical. That said, I thought it was great.

In fact that film is one of the very best executed action films ever done, is pure greatness, cinema is more than a story.

I haven't watched most of these movies, but I'm pleased by the inclusion of The Dark Knight. I wish it was placed a tad bit higher though!

A lot of boring and pretentious movies on this list.

These are not the best 100 movies of the 21st century. While many of them are still good films, the only real thing they have in common is that these 100 movies are the ones hipsters like.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Great list! I have seen 77 of them. And while I don't agree with all of them (Not a fan of The Dark Knight, Inglorious Basterds, A History of Violence, The Assassin, Dogville or The Wolf of Wall Street for instance), I think most deserve their spot.

My top 25:
1. The Great Beauty
2. The Dreamers
3. 4 months, 3 Weeks and 2 days
4. Inland Empire
5. Mad Max: Fury Road
6. The Master
7. There Will be Blood
8. Femme Fatale
9. Mulholland Drive
10. The Tree of Life
11. Leviathan
12. The New World
13. A One and a Two
14. A Separation
15. Enter the Void
16. Caché
17. The White Ribbon
18. Winter Sleep
19. The Turin Horse
20. The Return
21. Russian Ark
22. The Past
23. Passion
24. Elena
25. We Need to Talk About Kevin

Honorable mentions:
Lost in Translation
Lady in the Water
A Prophet
The Hurt Locker
Let the Right One In
No Country for Old Men
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Casino Royale
The Skin I Live in
The Lord of the Rings trilogy

I don't get the criticism from some of you. Critics are entertained by movies that have a strong vision and are crafted really well. When you have seen hundreds of superhero movies that are all very similar and generic, it's natural to want something with a bit more creativity and some original ideas.

I have seen 67 of them, is a very respectable list, lots of classics and even underrated movies, but the order of the ranking is really questionable.

Nice list! And a couple of films I didn't even know about! Thanks a lot!

No Up in a list that ranks Wall-E so high ? I call BS, it might be because the titles always change in Italian so I might not recognize them but the only movies I recognize are out of the top 20...

Lol this is how I know I dont watch movies often, highest on the list Ive seen is 19. Mad Max: Fury Road.
Also The Social Network at 27 surprised me, I really liked it but I didnt know others considered it to be that good.

Disappointed that king Kong isn't on the list. The 2005 version was a rare movie which managed to be long but keep my attention.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

It went wrong as soon as they said critics choice. Critics don't view films in the same way as people who work the 9-5 and want to relax in the evening. Also box office takings is often the best marketed films. It should be a poll of the general public to get true ratings.

Requiem for a dream was one of the worst films I've ever seen. Might have had some good acting but its a film I'd prefer to have never seen.

Even the trailer is terrible and that's trying to get people to watch the film.

A real 100 greatest films would look nothing like that list.

I only watched 5 of those films: Inception, The Dark Knight, Ratatouille, WALL-E and Amélie.
