Forums - Sony Discussion - PS+ price increasing in the United States, Canada and Brazil on September 22nd

I never bought PS+ anyway, but this decision solidified that I'm not getting it in the future.

On a plus side I also realized (from trying) that the cards are stackable. I had 2 months left and used the last of 2 cards I bought around November last year just now and it added 12 months to my remaining time.

Yeah, they've always been stackable... I'm good until the end of 2018:

I've been stockpiling them ever since the Canadian dollar prices were going up for video games, a little after the PS4 went from $399 to $449 around March/April 2014. So with all the cards I have, I think I'm good until maybe 2021.

I'm also guessing that if there are any 'discounts' on Canadian Black Friday, they'll knock $20 off the price and put them on sale at $49.99 again. That's what they usually do with their controllers.

Yes there is an expiration date.

OT: I'd gladly pay $80 if that means i can keep on swallowing Sony's free cu-- I mean games.

Ok after some light reseach i discovered that the cards have an expiration date of 1yr from when they are made.

Just spoke with "my guy" and I can get them at $40 from him right now so I'm gonna buy like 4/5 cards and put them all on my account. Before he gets wind of this story and hikes his prices up.

Could you point me this documentation that states the cards expire? Because this seems completely illegal when nothing on the card packaging says it expires.

We have increased the price of PlayStation Plus to $60 to help fund our cutting edge research in “user account name change” technology

Seems like a smart decision. Same price as Xbox Gold now. If I were in charge of Sony, I would have done that years ago.

After a little more research i  found out that they dont expire. However it's possible for the card to no work after a certain amount of time. Inw which case you are required to call Sonny and they would reactivate the card as long as it hasn't been used before.

According to sony, as long as there is no expiration date on the card then it doesn't expire.

I'm expecting a deal from Sony for reduced price if you buy 2 or 3 years at once. This and the $10 increase will be used to cushion the lower than expected price of the Slim and the Neo.

Sep 7th reveal > between Sep 8th - 13th Firmware update > 14th Slim launch/PS+ price hyke > Oct Neo/PSVR.

People are saying that Sony will be annoyed by the Slim leak but I think it's controlled. The PS4s is exactly the same as the PS4 and lots of people prefer the PS4 as it is. This will guarentee that the old PS4 will continue selling reasonably well until stocks have gone. This would not have been possible without something to compare the old PS4 with.

The PS5 Exists.
