Forums - Sony Discussion - PS+ price increasing in the United States, Canada and Brazil on September 22nd

When Xbox Live went up 10 bucks it wasn't a big deal to me because I could still find them on sale for 35-45 bucks. Which I still can today btw. I don't have as much luck with PS+ cards unless it's the holidays.

In 2008 live gold cost $60 and no monthly games, millions of subscribers and wasn't a problem then but now is a huge deal breaker... Makes sense.

Here in europe it is not as cheap since the beginning, nice to see it balanced now.

Adjusting for inflation it's the equivelent of $67!

Actually, it was 50 bucks in 2008, they increased the price in 2010.

I have "a guy", that I can get PS+ cards from for about $40-$45 for a years subscription. I already have 1 more years worth that will kick in around November this year. Maybe I should call him up and just buy for 5yrs.

Does anyone know if them PS+ cars have an expiration date?

What concerns me is that I'm looking at my current spare 12 month sub card with $49.99 written under it.

I hope I dont go stock up on these then after the price hike I'm told my card is invalid or it just adds $50 store credit for me. Or has anyone tried stacking subscriptions????

Yes there is an expiration date.

OT: I'd gladly pay $80 if that means i can keep on swallowing Sony's free cu-- I mean games.

Which means it went from $55.18 to $66.22 in 2016 dollars.

Rip-off!!!!

Ok after some light reseach i discovered that the cards have an expiration date of 1yr from when they are made.

On a plus side I also realized (from trying) that the cards are stackable. I had 2 months left and used the last of 2 cards I bought around November last year just now and it added 12 months to my remaining time.

Just spoke with "my guy" and I can get them at $40 from him right now so I'm gonna buy like 4/5 cards and put them all on my account. Before he gets wind of this story and hikes his prices up.

I could have bought 24 months PS+ for €66 a few days ago... I hope that deal returns once more.

yea that's a pretty amazing deal - I bought 2 years for 75€ 2 weeks ago

Pretty much how it is in the UK, Can get 12 month gold for like £30 and generally its always cheaper than PS+ whilst cheapest codes around for PS+ are like £35 , Got my last PS+ year for £26 and my 12 months of live a year ago for £22 and 2 weeks later my mate got it at £17.50 :D

In the end I think poeple will start using key sites and ebay more and in the long run still be paying the same as it in now for the next few years.

Didn't PSN generated more revenue than whole Nintendo? It's that big and will grow bigger. Plus digital platform yields more profit. As for me I am indifferent as I haven't purchased PS+ because my PS4 is for exclusive single player games. Even if I used it it wouldn't effected me much.

About time you mofos (<3) catch up in PS+ membership prices.

Without discounts we've paid $60 (375 DKK) since forever in Denmark.
