I think you misunderstand.  I don't see any features cut.  I think you are making it up or maybe you have convinced yourself but I just don't see what you see.  so I am asking you, what was cut?

I think you misunderstand. There are no features cut (well, besides optical out, which *is* a feature).

Again: people shouldn't expect anything *added* but instead features cut. It's about the expectation of what a slim version is, not what is actually happening.

Well you did say this

'I think if you want to have 4k on a Sony console, you have to buy the neo. The slim is a cheap version of the vanilla console and gets features cut, not added.'

So get off his balls about it.

And what should we expect from a likely $50 to $100 cheaper remodel?

As optical audio out been removed? As it been confirmed? because the last time I checked it wasn't clear while some people noticed an optical audio in the slim pics.

Why do you even care and try to tell me what to do?

Again, for everyone: Sony is launching a better PS4 which they are trying to sell to customers. It would be dumb to include one feature also for the old console.

The slim is not only reduced in size but historically the console that gets features cut so the expectation would be that instead of getting additional features is to expect less features.

The removal of the optical part was made by the guy who owns the slim version, IIRC. And no, there is not "some people" saying there is an optical port but one on this forum who argued the youtube video of the guy who said no optical out.

It makes sense; cheap point of entry to VR and still most powerful gaming console on the market at the cheapest price.

Neo I reckon will be priced similar or slightly more than X1S.

They will have 2 very well priced consoles, one which will trigger impulse buys and the other that will be better than a premium slim, more powerful and offer VR. If the Neo at 4.2TF is at least $200 cheaper than Scorpio, it will be really interesting to see how things play out.

Ok, stay on his balls then!

1st sentence - What? That sentence doesn't make sense to me?

2nd sentence - Fair enough, I didn't get to see that video because it was taken down. And there's a few people saying that the square from the 4 PS symbols looked like a optical port. 1 guy convinced it was an optical port. Can't argue with the guy who's actually had his hands on it though.

I don't see while some people argue. The target for the Slim are people who wants to play games and save money and thus most unlikely will include UHD video. For the other target, the one looking for more power and features there will be the Neo.

Now it will be only a matter of price. If the Slim goes down to 250 USD/EUR (as it should. There are 1TB PS4 with a second DS4 at 320€ sometime) it will be a killer.

Okay so basically I am confused.  You said There are no features cut.  Then you said that people should expect things to be cut.  Are you referencing past slims?  From what I remember on the PS3 Slim lost features.  PS2 went from Ethernet extention to built in Ethernet.  As far as 4K support, I don't think anyone is really expecting this.  I think that the product I have now is more than sufficent and I suspect a slimer cheaper PS4 will be seen as very attractive.

Close. RATHER than expecting additional features, people should expect features cut because of former slim revisions.

The guy that made the unboxing video, has run games on it.
Someone asked him on twitter how the noise situation was, and was basically told its less noisy, than current ps4's.

Not sure if that counts as a feature, but smaller, less noisy & uses less power.

My post from other thread

Ok so I've done a little bit of digging. I know the guy said no optical audio but he could of just missed it. Somebody drew attention to that yellow triangle. I thought it looked like a warning symbol so I google imaged optical audio warning label. This is what it returned

Looks very similar to the one on back of PS4 Slim. Make of it what you will!

Yeah.... but we've seen the console from all angles, and it's been heavily studied to the point where people are paying attention to yellow triangle symbols. There is no Optical Port on the model shown.
