The death penalty thread has derailed slightly into a discussion of euthansia, so I thought I'd make a separate thread for it.

For the sake of argument, regarding those who are terminally ill or living in a state of chronic incurable suffering, do you think it should be legal for them to be assisted in voluntarily ending their lives in a painless fashion?

100% for it.

For it. If I no longer want to participate in the game of life, there should be a simple way out.

Well it should be for people with an incurable sickness that cant move or are in constant pain. Not for people who just want to check out because they are bored...

For it. It's better this way than them blowing their head off with a gun, I say. In Oregon (where I am) it was recently passed as an option

I hear that euthanasia is illegal in most countries. Is the assisted suicide always done with the consent of the terminally ill patient? I guess it would be difficult in cases where a patient can't speak/communicate.

Entirely for it.No one owns you and no one should be able to demand and order you to not die of your own accord, I find it quite vomit inducing when I hear the UK is against assisted dying, as if the government owns you along with people you've never even met but they somehow wish to control how you enter and exit this world.

If I'm to die then I'll do it how and when I want to, no one should tell me how and when to die, it's my life and I'll do what I want with it.

I'm against it but I'm for people doing it themselves if that's what they want.

Absolutely for it. I was glad to see a little progress with it being made in the states and hope it continues.

Yup. It's simply a case where nobody's opinion should matter except for the person dying, and the person assisting.
