I think the xb1 s looks better IMO.

I think doing a slim that isn't the rumored Neo is a mistake because that means the Neo is the one that goes against scorpio and if rumored specs of both are true then that is quite a power difference.

Wait.... you expected the Neo to go against the XB1s???? The XB1s is still underpowered compared to the OG PS4 FFS!

And I don't know about this power thing. Ive said it all gen that power alone isn't enough to win a console war. Just look at the best selling console of all time and the og Xbox.

And if the Neo does in deed come out 6-12 months before the scorpio..... no amount of TFs would make the scorpio matter. That's kinda how these things go. Cause as far as devs are concerned, there would be a 4k console out there with an install base of 5-8M as opposed to a new one with an install base of 0.

No, I was thinking the Neo once revealed would end up being a slim and that a more powerful unit was planned for later that'd go against the scorpio.

If there is a slim and the Neo is the more powerful offering it will be significantly less powerful than scorpio if the rumors are true won't it?

Just seems like a bad idea.

That's at least $100 more expensive...

I see both those points but you guys dont think sites will keep doing game comparisons?  I mean I know power isn't everything but it definitely doesn't help the perception of the x1.  I would think it'd give the Neo the same stigma as the x1 got.

Ok. Well its been pretty  common knowledge that the Neo is going up against the scorpio. This PS4s is going to replace the current PS4 and may even be sold for as little as $299/$249.

Rumoured specs for the Neo currently has it with a GPU with around 4.2TFs as opposed to the scorpio's 6TF. In truth, that significant difference is about as much of a difference that there is  between the current PS4(1.8TF) and XB1(1.2TF) GPUs. And that's not even factoring in the massive memory bandwidth advantage between the PS4/XB1/XB1s.

Another very important thing is price. It's bad enough that the Scorpio will come out at least 6-9 months later than the Neo, its gonna most likly be more expensive than whatever the Neo costs at the time. Goodluck to MS selling a scorpio for $499+ when at the time there could be a $350 Neo on the market.

And yes, sites will keep doing comparisons. But there in lies the next bit. Look at current PS4 to XB1 comparisons. like the new deus ex one.... PS4 runs at native 1080p to XB1 native 900p. but output at 1080p. You will be hard pressed to tell a difference. Those differences are going to be much smaller when we are talking about 4k with internal scaling being god knows whatever they use.

Sure they will. But I don't think that will make a huge difference. I don't think either of these consoles (or any console for that matter) is being made for the person who wants the absolute most powerful system they can get. They're for the person who wants a PS4 or Xbox One for other reasons (exlcusives, friends, w.e.) but would also like the most up to date version.

Don't get me wrong, people will certainly buy the Scorpio over the Neo because of the power advantage. But I imagine that more people will buy the Neo due to it's price advantage and head start. Plus it simply being a Playstation and a part of the PS ecosystem.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I like the look. I prefer buttons to these weird sensors. And I don't really care for the light bar through the ps4. It just doesn't do anything.

WTF is with the usb's though? They are super separated. I'd like more USB's.

Hasnt there been physical buttons on PS4s for a while now? Mine has sensors but i know(or think) there is a sku with physical buttons.

As fir the USB ports? Call me crazy but that's one of the things I like the most of this new sku. I would have preferred it if they were both at the bottom or to the side but I like that there is at least one there. I always have my console standing vertically. and right now it pisses the hell out of me having wires sticking out form the middle of the darn thing when I'm charging controllers. With this new design I could use only the port at the bottom (right side of the console).

Hope that carries over to the Neo being that I'm not even buying the slim.

I see.  It just seems like a bigger difference because of the flops.  You're probably right the launch difference will give it a head start.

I think price will be a huge factor for many things:

4K gaming

VR gaming

VR films and photos

4K films and photos

You will have the NX which will probably be the cheapest, followed by the OG Xbox and PS4, followed by PS4S, Xb1S, Neo and finally Scorpio.

I'm unsure of the NX price due to the whole hybrid thing, but I can see a Neo launching at £399 and the Scorpio launching 9-12 months later for $599+. A minimum $200 difference will play a big role in what consumers go for.

As for the slim, I like the design. It's simple and clean.

I dont see the scorpio being more expensive than $499. MS just won't be that stupid. Especially if the Neo comes in at $399. If the neo is $499 then MS can rightfully match that price a year later or stupidly come in at $599.

In this new phase sony is holding all the cards. By that time they will no doubt have an overall PS4 install base that's at least 2x more than whatever XB1 install base is. That put them in a better position to compete on price or even bundles than MS would ever be with the XB1. I can pretty much guarantee that the Neo will have its first price drop on or around the time the scorpio is releasing especially if it's releasing at the same price of the Neo.
