Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Dragon Quest XI Confirmed For NX (Yes, XI, The New One)

I'll be disappointed if NX launches in 2017 and is weaker than a console that came out 4 years earlier. Developers struggling to put their games on the system will more than likely lead to those games not making it to the console.

I thought this was confirmed some time ago? Or did people think they only meant the handheld version was coming to the NX?

Well it was obvious some time ago, it was never confirmed though.

Ah, that's right. I think they strongly hinted it when they announced the game.

Good News: DQXI on NX is a go. That's great news actually.

Bad News: It doesn't sound like its a port of the PS4 version (or 3DS version) ... but that may indicate the NX does not have the hardware power to port the PS4 build.

No, it just indicates you're retarded.

Hmm WHAT??
"The use of hardware is different for each system, so it’s quite a challenge."
Wonder if this means that the NX isn't just running a downgraded PS4 version. Maybe he just means the architecture is different making it more difficult to develop for the NX version then what porting a PS4 game to PC/XBO would be.

Starting to think NX is basically just a souped up Wii U level of performance. Would be a bit dissapointing since I think they can do more with mobile tech than that, but oh well. I think Nintendo is going to go hard after mobile/tablet gamers with the NX, it's not meant to compete with the PS4/XB1.

You can't start doing something you're not capable of.

It could mean that the NX version is higher spec than the PS4 version, and the PS4 version has to get dumbed down as well. We don't know anything yet.

Yeah I'd love for that to be the case, but I don't think so, heh. MCV's source said between a PS3 and PS4, so that could mean more like a PS3 in raw horsepower with some tricks/more modern architecture to maybe "sell" the look of PS4-ish graphics in some situations.

It only means you're ridiculous. Doesn't matter if you believe this nonsense or know it's BS and pretends to believe it.

Hehehe

Hahahaha. Like why the fuck are you even mad at me? Go to Eurogamaer and MCV and IGN and Wall Street Journal's offices and throw your 10-year-old temper tantrum at them, lol, they're the ones running the report (all verified by their own sources and by the way MCV's source told them he actually saw a game running on the system so it's not just a controller). It's not my story I'm only commenting on what is being reported by the gaming press.

Should have been for Wii U, IMO.

Well Wii U is already dead, not to mentioned 2017.

Which is why I'm going to be VERY wary of the NX. Nintendo have a good history of screwing over their customers with overpriced hardware, only to abandon it prematurely and chase a new concept.

That isn't true, actually only Wii U and 3DS were overpriced, also they gaving full suport around 4-5 years and that very close to usual life cycle of generation of consoles.

The Wii was a moderately overclocked $99.99 GameCube (the GameCube had been $99 for *three* years by 2006 to boot), that they sold for $250, the additional cost largely being a plastic controller that probably cost $10/pop to mass produce and an laughably small 512MB internal storage (remember Nintendo's solution to this for many years was to simply delete games and use the "fridge" method).

I would say that was overpriced. The XBox 360 was a full generation upgrade for $50 more available a full year earlier.

Yes the system did have some good games (like Mario Galaxy), but that doesn't excuse the hardware.

The GameCube at $199.99 just five years prior was *full* generation upgrade over the Nintendo 64 and even better than the Playstation 2.

The Wii U at least was also a full generation upgrade on the Wii with many multiple times more storage.

Comparing to GC was overpriced, compared to competition was not. Also you need to cost of new technology. If Wii relly wan overpriced never wouldnt sell 100m, one of main reason why Wii sold so much is afordible price for mass market with $249.
