Death penalty?

Yes! 39 21.08%

No. 146 78.92%

Total:185

Sadly not, but knowing my country the cost of killing a criminal would most likely be more than keeping that scum alive for 60 years.

From the UK and we do not have it. Because we are civilised.

I also do not agree with it. I'd prefer to let them waste their lives for 50+ years in a cell.

The U.K. Does have the death penalty, serious cases of treason against the country are still punishable by death in the UK.

The death penalty for murder was abolished in Great Britain in 1965, and in NI in 1973. But  in theory you could still be hung, drawn and quartered for high treason as recently as 1998.

The last time high treason was used to prosecute anyone was in 1945, and he was hung in 1946.

There's no death penalty in the UK. The maximum sentence possible is life imprisonment.

I don't really know tbh.

Not in Canada, unfortunately.
I am a supporter of the death penalty. I don't believe second chances should be given for committer's of the worst crimes.

I believe the only first world countries that currently have it are the US and Japan

You mean some states...Am I wrong?

As for Japan, yeah and they defend it strongly when they get scathed for that!

By the way, Japan has very low criminal rate, I wonder if it's because of it... I mean you don't want to risk your life by  commiting a crime, of course for a grave crime ( like murder or rape ) , I don't think you get executed, for example if  you steal jewelery, money e.t.c or burgling.

No, it's more of a cultural thing - considering that Texas and the likes have particularly high murder rates.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

No death penalty here in Germany sadly. Personally, I believe some people commit crimes that are simply so heinous that they forfeit their right to live.

Italy doesn't have death penalty. I'm against it but I'm very surprised by our corrupted politicians to not have tried to re-introduce it so that they have a legal way to kill people who follow the laws going against them...
Seeing how Erdogan wants to re-introduce it in Turkey should prove to anyone doubtful about it that the death penalty is wrong.
