Forums - Gaming Discussion - Less Than One Percent Of No Man’s Sky Players Reported Issues

It just goes to show how the internet represents such a small percentage of gamers and how a tiny vocal minority can make it look as if 'everyone' is having problems:

Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky can be seen as one of the most anticipated games of all time in the video games industry, and since its release, players have had mixed opinions about it.

Part of the reason people had mixed opinions is due to poor optimization on PC and a delayed release, with PS4 players reporting issues as well. However, Hello Games’ Founder Sean Murray tweeted out that “less than one per cent of players have raised support issues.”

Not surprising, considering it's probably sold most on PS4 where the game really doesn't have huge problems. 'Raising support issues' is also a bit vague, but it sounds like officially raising an issue somewhere, and I don't think a lot of players are interested in doing that. On Steam, where the game has probably sold the most copies on PC, you can get a refund without any specific reason as long as you have played less than two hours. That's more than enough to notice any major technical issues and refund the game instead of filing an issue.

I'm not really sure what the point of his tweet is. The game's launch has been a bit troubled, and it would make things seem a lot better if he could just admit the problems instead of trying to downplay them. I don't think he's lying about the filed issues, but there have been a ton of complaints through less formal channels so it doesn't make much sense to try to deny the problem.

Really? Well that pretty eye opening considering seeing nothing but hate on the internet.

Depends on how they actually got that number... Is it based on steam forums or emailing them or twitter or a combination or something else? Cause there are plenty of people who post problems on sites like Reddit so do those count as well? So its hard to actually know how he got that number...

With that being said, it makes sense that its still a low number. But I am sure next time him and his company makes a game, people will certainly take his words with massive amounts of salts and probably won't trust him as much as before. I know that I sure as hell wont be buying his games on day 1 ever again.

You have to take into account that a good 80% of the hate comes from people who have never played it or don't like the genre. Then there are people who think something is wrong when it's actually just something they haven't come to grips with yet.

The other 99% hit the refund button right away

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

It's interesting that if it's not even 1% ,then why where they citing the fact that they have just employed a large team many times more than the whole hello games team and appointed a director to oversee support issues if it is such a minor problem.
One problem with such figures is it doesn't represent those that for what ever reason ,whether it being needing to reboot and unable to report in game , not reporting because the problem is already known or using Sony or other sources to find out about problems.
For myself I have be left to restart with the error code CE-34878-0 more than a dozen times and have had the forced in to orbit problem among others , now I don't want to overplay my problems after all only the error code is a major fault, but I don't want it downplayed either, all I wanted is a statement saying where aware of the problem and are working on fixing it, without prefacing it with an excuse that makes us look like whingers.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

So we're taking the word of the guy who misled people about the content of his game on how much criticism said game is receiving?

So clicking "report error" after the game crashes for the umpteenth is not reporting an issue?
Or do only 1% of players ever actually use that button? Or perhaps 99% got bored before running into issues...

I had a fun 'glitch' again. Some alien wanted to see my multi-tool, instead of giving a bonus he damaged it. Result critical damage to a drive component on my ship half a planet away. That's some strong power surge.
I wish you could shoot other ships of landing pads. It took 10 minutes before the game finally gave me a chance to call my ship to pick me up, inserting another AI ship every time. You can't shoot stuff on the ground either from your ship. It's like ship and planet are 2 different dimensions.

Anyway if I started reporting every issue on their website it would be a full time job. Sorry Sean, test your own damn game.

Steam spy has it over 700k players and it's the fastest selling Steam game of 2016 so this refund excuse is getting old.
