Reviewers that didn't enjoy the game didn't all of the sudden make me not enjoy it.  Also, reviewers that did enjoy the game didn't make me also enjoy because they did.

I'm enjoying it because it's what I'd thought it'd be.

edit: I didn't buy the game because it was hyped.  In fact when it was hyped up I actually wasn't interested.  I only gained interest as it went on and I noticed a pretty big shift in what was being said about the game on the internet.

It went from hyped up to tempering expectations to downright questioning if it was good at all which actually made the launch reviews and internet chatter pretty predictable.   I'm not sure what the devs did or what decisions they took that altered the internet excitement so quickly but it was very noticeable.

Im not saying that there isnt someone who liked the game(and that someone like you couldnt enjoy it or like the game for what it is), I just think that alot of its games sales were sold on promises that werent met. Now, can it become a better game in the future?Sure. But as things stand now, I believe other games deserved more.

It plays like I expected based of what devs showed up to launch.

I'm not saying people didn't like the game because people expected things that weren't there on trailers and play through videos or (that someone like you didn't enjoy it or like the game for what it was shown to be).

I have no secret inside knowledge to the reasons as to why "alot" of people bought the game as you do but it was what I expected.

One more time people reward a dev for releasing a hyped game which doesn't really offer much for that price tag (yes I know that it offers theoretically billions of hours playtime lol)

Sure, it will probably get some updates the next months which will make it a much bigger/better game content wise but right now I really don't see where the $60 price tag comes from. The whole game (except the soundtrack) cries for a lower price atm.

Everything which isn't automatically generated looks like an indie game you would get for less money and the automatically generated stuff looks, well, like automatically generated.

Well then, you and I simply had different expectations from from what the trailers showed us and what to expect out of the game. And my "inside knowledge" about what gamers want is just an educated guess based on the reviews and what people(in general) expected out of the game.Promise i didnt use any kind of magic when I made that statement =)

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Thank you Donald.

This game is selling pretty well. It has more than 14k ratings in the US store. That's a lot especially for a indie game.

No problem Mr. Murray.

Thread title updated.

Considering it's Sony's 2nd biggest launch in the UK (=Sony published titles only) and not "Second Fastest Selling PS4 Title in the UK" the OP is still wrong :P
But hey it's only gaming journalism, so if you haven't got it from the source, it's more than likely wrong.

Even though we don't know exact numbers, it will be well below several FIFAs and Call of Dutys.

I doubt that was called for.

Witcher "3", Dark souls "3" and bloodborne (which in truth is a dark souls reimagination) are nowheee near as original in overall concept to No Mans Sky.

I have two of those three games mind you, doesn't mean I can't still at least admit that No Mans Sky as at the very least more original than them. I didn't say better, I said original.

And originality is good for the industry, unless ur ok with playing COD 20 every year.

I agree the video was definitely uncalled for.  As to NMS, I alway look at originality with execution.  From what I am hearing from a bunch of friends who have played a good deal of time with the game, it need to go back into the oven especially on the PC side.

Personally I believe developers and publishers do not mind doing original things, but in a hits market like games, at 60 dollar a pop, gamers are not that adventurous to spend on original games unless the hype overweights execution.  NMS was a very ambitious project, especially for such a small dev team but no matter what your circumstances are, you still have to deliver on your product.  Right now, it seems a lot more time is still needed to get the game to the expectations set for consumers.

I just based my expectations on what was shown. Would it be great to have other stuff?  Sure, but since it has what was shown I see no point in knocking them for delivering pretty much what they showed.

I do look forward to the updates they talked about such as base building and giant ships.

What has Hello Games delivered?

A planet sized area where you can fly and walk as you wish. This is something I have dreamt of since Pilotwings 64 and no one else has developed it.

A solar system where you seamlessly can go from one planet to the other. This is something I have dreamt of since I first heard of NMS (it was so outlandish that I had not imagined this was possible) and no one else has developed it.

No Man's Sky is the first game to change gameing radically since Minecraft (another indie game).

These reasons alone make it worth more than $60 for me and many others.
