Forums - Gaming Discussion - No Man’s Sky is the Second Fastest Selling PS4 Title In The UK

According to new stats released by Chart-Track, Hello Games' space exploration sim sits fifth behind DestinyWatch DogsThe Getaway and The Last of Us in terms of new IP across all publishers and Sony formats. This makes it one of the most successful new IP launches in PlayStation history.

Though it's no surprise that No Man's Sky performed well given the tremendous amount of excitement surrounding its release, these are still massive numbers that will stand to make it one of the most financially successful indie games of all time. With it now having bested From Software's Bloodborne as the PS4's most successful new IP, Hello Games and Sony might be a little disheartened by its poor critical reception, but they will no doubt be over the moon with the numbers the game has pulled in.

That's amazing news for a new IP! Keep these games coming!

Personally, I just hope the game is good. While sales are great and good for the dev and platform holder, its games like myself who really only care if the game is worth my money. I am back logged right now so can easily wait a month to see how things shape up before committing any money.

Great achievement but I think a game like Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 or The Witcher 3 would have deserved this much more.

From what i played I enjoyed the distinct experience. It's not for everyone, but I enjoy the more relaxed feel.

Thats the problem right there. The issue with all the games you mentioned is thst they are all complete lacking in originality. And that to me is why they don't "deserve" feats like this.

No Mans Sky sold purely based on the originality of its concept. Just think of it, so many people (myself included) bought this game having no idea what it really was.

I hope this spurs the industry into seeing that games like these are worth the investment.

I wouldnt say Bloodborne is lacking in originality.

Given the reviews, I personally dont feel like it should have sold this well.It basically sold like an Ubisoft game:mostly on hype. But I hope Hello can enhance the game and turn it into what it was supposed to be.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
