Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XV officially delayed to November 29

Day one patches shouldn't exist anyway.

Ok, so whats the real issue here. That it took them 10years to make the game? Or that they missed the first release date they set and shifted it back by about 2 months?

The issue is you trying to dismiss FF XV delay because it wasn't FF XV before, or because it didn't have a fixed release date, while pointing games like Uncharted for having 3 of them. While FF XV didn't miss a month or even a year of the schedule, it missed a freaking whole generation.

So really, come on...

No. To this point i actually thought you were just fooling around but now I see you are serious.

FF15 was NEVER delayed. It just took 10 years to make. This is the First delay it has got.

The issue here is your interpretation of the word Delay, I'm not dismissing anything. But that a game for whatever reason took 10yrs to make while never having a release date is not the same thing with it being delayed.

It just had a 10yr dev cycle.... if we can even call it that. But that is still more accurate than to referring to it as being delayed.

Let me get this straight. The game was gonna be printed on disc now, in august. And would of come out 1 month later. But because of the day one patch. They want to release it on Nov 29. If the day 1 patch was coming out on Sept 30. Why isn't the game coming out on Oct 29? If the printing window for the original release was a month time. I say there was a serious fatal bug. And will take a month to fix.

Does anyone else think this new date is a really bad time for a game to come out? Nov 29th is the week after Black Friday, so they'll be missing out on all those sales. Or does that not really matter much?

It helps them in Japan, I believe, but hurts them in the west.

USA only really, rest of the world, it's a good release date due to sales up to Christmas.

Hmm, pie.

I hate day one patches more than two month delays...but I'll be shocked if they don't still have a tiny day one patch anyways, or a fairly important patch within a month.

But was never given a release date or window til 2016

Yeah, they were expecting it to release 2016 to the PS3 back in the day, that's why it's coming to the PS4 now...

And yet the point still stands, SE never mentioned a release window during the PS3 days because development was up in the air. The game didn't enter full development til after 2011.

edit: And this shouldn't be mistaken for me giving SE a pass. The game shouldn't have been announced in 2006.

Well, I just cancelled my pre-order. I'll be playing Sun/Moon still when this game is released, so no point in getting it day 1 anymore. I'll probably be getting it early next year now. But this is a good thing. The game clearly needed a delay.

I think being before the pack, is better than being after the pack. For example Halo 3 was really impressive in September, where I think in November it would have faced tougher challenges (still would be impressive, but no idea as impressive due to competition of popular brands).

Honestly, while I am buying this product, I will have hard time playing this day 1, if I am still playing lets say Pokemon, or Mafia, or World of Final Fantasy. (I'm a well rounded gamer)

It is easier to get lost in the shuffle later on. Also games in holiday season regardless get sales up at Christmas, being closer to Christmas I don't believe has ever stopped something from September-November, from doing insanely more impressive.

You guys really think a giant 3rd party game wont have a day one patch because of a 60 days delay in this day and age?

I bet it will. If I lose, I'll record myself breaking my copy of OoT3D or eating a napkin. Something dumb like that.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
