DélioPT said: Well, there's nothing stopping this from being true. It could that Nvidia has the portable contract and AMD, the console contract; it could also be, like SMD64 suggested, that Nvidia chip is only being used for the time being and not as the final chip. Yahoo is not suggesting/speculating something, they are really affirming something. |
More likely -- Yahoo doesn't know shit. This is from three months ago when the common assumption was "of course Nintendo will use AMD they always use AMD" and AMD was talking about three contract wins, but the time, Scorpio was just a rumor.
To be honest where is Nintendo really going to beat the PS4 on anyway? More games? Nope. Better tech? Than Neo AND Scorpio? Yeah ... I doubt that (7 TFLOP?).
"Nintendo PS4" would be just another GameCube, probably worse off because it's launching 4 years too late instead of 1 year too late.
I know SuperMetalDave 64 and others want it so bad, but that approach is not neccessarily even great for Nintendo fans either. Having ONE platform is GOOD for games. It means Nintendo can cut the redundant bullshit out of their lineup of having to support two consoles (yes, when portables started having 3D graphics and demanding EAD versions of most major Nintendo IP, they are basically a console too).
We will get more Nintendo franchises, more new franchises like Splatoon, and not have to pay $500-$600 just to play all the Nintendo games we want in a hybrid platform. It means EAD Tokyo can work on a new IP or a different IP after making one 3D Mario rather than having to make "3D Mario-2 for the other console" right afterwards.
