AMD, which competes with Intel (INTC) and NVIDIA (NVDA) in the CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) market, dominates the gaming console market. It’s the sole supplier of semi-custom processors for Japan-based (EWJ) Sony’s (SNE) PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s (MSFT) Xbox. It has also won an order for Nintendo’s upcoming console, codenamed “NX.”

Don't be offended, is just that many people on most forums simply read the thread title and quickly reply. Myself included.

The articles are dated so no.

Likely false. When has Yahoo ever broken any news regarding Nintendo or any console maker?

The working theory was when AMD decided to blow their mouth open and brag about three contract wins that Nintendo must be one of them, but that was never a guarantee of anything, especially since we have three new SoCs from them -- Scorpio, PS4 Neo, and XBOne S.

These articles are just piggy backing off that. Sorry SuperMetalDave64.

blast processing 2.0 confirmed.

Well, there's nothing stopping this from being true.
It could that Nvidia has the portable contract and AMD, the console contract; it could also be, like SMD64 suggested, that Nvidia chip is only being used for the time being and not as the final chip.

Yahoo is not suggesting/speculating something, they are really affirming something.

More likely -- Yahoo doesn't know shit. This is from three months ago when the common assumption was "of course Nintendo will use AMD they always use AMD" and AMD was talking about three contract wins, but the time, Scorpio was just a rumor.

To be honest where is Nintendo really going to beat the PS4 on anyway? More games? Nope. Better tech? Than Neo AND Scorpio? Yeah ... I doubt that (7 TFLOP?).

"Nintendo PS4" would be just another GameCube, probably worse off because it's launching 4 years too late instead of 1 year too late.

I know SuperMetalDave 64 and others want it so bad, but that approach is not neccessarily even great for Nintendo fans either. Having ONE platform is GOOD for games. It means Nintendo can cut the redundant bullshit out of their lineup of having to support two consoles (yes, when portables started having 3D graphics and demanding EAD versions of most major Nintendo IP, they are basically a console too).

We will get more Nintendo franchises, more new franchises like Splatoon, and not have to pay $500-$600 just to play all the Nintendo games we want in a hybrid platform. It means EAD Tokyo can work on a new IP or a different IP after making one 3D Mario rather than having to make "3D Mario-2 for the other console" right afterwards.

That's a possibility. Still, they are making a claim that AMD won a contract. It's not a minor thing to say that.
Actually, in one of SMD64's video he pointed out something interesting: in the past, "rumors" hinted that 3DS would use a certain chip but in the end, Nintendo ended up with another chip. Maybe that's the case here aswell.

I guess only time will tell if it's true or not.

Well SMD64 can't have it both ways here. Because the "placeholder" chip in the 3DS was allegedly a Tegra chip from Nvidia. What happened was it didn't hit the thermal/performance needs Nintendo apparently wanted back then so they went with Pica200.

But if that's true that means Eurogamer was correct about that too (Nintendo was going to go with Nvidia for the 3DS but backed out at the last minute).

And lo and behold just yesterday a real Nintendo patent shows up with removable controller wings -- just like Eurogamer said.
