Forums - Gaming Discussion - [RUMOR]PS VITA TRINITY announce at Playstation Meeting

Having been away from the forums for a while I've genuinely forgotten the vita exists. You don't even see product on the shelves in a large number of places. Its non existent outside of hardcore game community's. I just don't see sony wasting their time.

NEW VITA ??!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssssssss.

Best Handheld ever IMO. Cant wait for the Vita 2.

You're going to be waiting a long, long time, and I say this as a huge vita fan with over 40 Vita games, and a PS TV.

I'll be shocked if Sony puts out a Vita 2. It's pretty obvious there's very little market for it.

Where is the Trinity name coming from? Unless I'm overlooking it none of the documents mention it, so it looks like the Trinity name is coming out of NeoGAF OP's ass.

Why would they release a new Vita when they don't even make games for it?

After those sales numbers? I will be surprised if sony makes another handheld, specially the way they abandoned it. Maybe its just another revision? That meeting will certainly be interesting

Oh god! I AM getting my hopes up. I can take the hit if they get dashed. Love the Vita! Please be true!

I know I may be jumping the gun, but this is how happy I am right now:

Nope.

If you read the last pages of the thread on GAF, people are finding more info and the conclusion is that it's for different systems, the one for handheld use.

I just read the rest of the thread.  You really, really need to go read it too.

As I said, this is much ado about nothing.

These FCC filings are for a wireless card that's almost assuredly used in handheld/mobile device, not a console.

This page https://gyazo.com/b0ea189bc0766fe9215b03354c2bf81d mentions a PIFA antenna, which is a Planar Inverted-F Antenna.

"Inverted-F antennae are widely used in compact hand-held wireless devices where space is at a premium. This includes mobile phones and tablet computers using wireless transmissions such as GSM, Bluetooth, and WiFi."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverted-F_antenna

This is from GAF. Truth is, everyone has a different opinion since this FCC are up to interpretations. That's why i posted the word RUMOR for the thread. If we were 100% sure this is not for a handheld/VITA successor GAF's mods would have locked it hours ago.

Very surprising if true. The handheld market is dying, it's very difficult to compete with smartphones, and their last handheld was a big failure, so I think Sony are making a mistake making another handheld.

Heres a new link from gaf which might have found the root of the rumor...

https://forum.beyond3d.com/threads/ps4k-neo-speculation-kaio-ken-kutaragi-kaz-neo-san.57686/page-108#post-1935324

"2016-08-08: I post about the FCC filings, the short-term confidentiality, and a JOKE about Vita 2.
2016-08-09: Some Japanese website uses these two patents to start a Vita 2 rumor.
2016-08-10: GAF rumor starts about Vita Trinity. Musing about the modules part numbers.

I was joking about Vita, this is the Neo thread, they already announced Neo. So the most probable is either Neo, or PS4 slim, or even a simple PS4 revision. They also have a USB wireless module coming.

The short-term confidentiality letter is always there on all their patents, I mentioned it to point out who signed it, and it indicates the time frame for product announcement. The important part of this letter is the signature, it makes sure this is an SCE product, because SCE files everything under the generic Sony Corp (the FCC prefix AK8), making searching patents difficult.

Those part numbers mean nothing. All wireless modules by SCE are J20H0xx for the last 10 years.
When they source complete modules it's usually AW-xxxxx (AzureWave) and there's a million of those."

And many of the newest comments at gaf arent looking so bright.
