Forums - Sony Discussion - Rumor: There are 2 PS4 Neo SKU's, only one will make it.

¿Which PS4 would you prefer?

Jaguar PS4 Neo (4.2TF) at $399 26 10.97%

PS4 Neo with new CPU (5.5TF) at $499 125 52.74%

Keep my regular PS4 (1.8TF) 17 7.17%

Get a regular PS4 (1.8TF) 2 0.84%

Scorpio (6TF) FTW! 30 12.66%

I'd rather NX. 27 11.39%

These console peasants... 10 4.22%

Total:237

I guess a 5.5tf/$500 Neo does pique my interest more than a 4.2tf/$400 one, especially if it removes that cpu bottleneck and could genuinely double frame rates and such. Just wonder how developers would feel about all these models.

They should 100% go with the $500 model, the price of consoles will go down but this NEO will stay will us for 2-3 years until PS5. It's better if it's powerful.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

What the hell do I care about the FLOPS in that thing. Just show me if the games look any better.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Wait, its rumored to have a power brick! Oh no... They should go with the 399 model. $500 for any mid gen upgrade is too much I feel. The 399 model already boasts greater TFs than the One S doesn't it? That alone should be enough to hold Sony over, unless that is, Neo is meant to be more than just a short term hardware revision. Be smart Sony, you already have a lead, keep it.

Now that Microsoft has shown their cards, I think that Sony is in a comfortable position to do whatever they want. Scorpio isn't launching anytime soon, so Sony can launch the Neo at $499 without having a competitor or a price disadvantage, by the time Scorpio launches (most likely at $499), Sony would be able to drop the price to $449 or even $399 should they please to; also, if they launch at $499 they would be able to keep the current PS4's price at $349 a little longer. If they launch the $399 Neo, they could keep it at that price well after the Scorpio comes out and still have a price advantage, but they would have to immediately drop the price on the regular PS4 to $299. I personally would prefer a $499 Neo with a performance closer to the Scorpio, I also think that would be the smartest business decision for Sony.

399$ solution seems much better to me.

The one that runs No Man's Sky @ 60 fps with VR support.

Probably the expensive one.

Why did you post this? It's 2 months old.

Might as well go with the more powerful one

Xbox one removes their power brick, while the ps4 adds one.

Yeah pretty funny.

Don't know which I prefer. I guess if I was going to upgrade, I'd want as much bang as possible for the buck. So I guess the $500 one.

Yea but the XB1S is still in-line with similar power to the current PS4 in which XB1/XB1S shouldn't need to have a power brick to begin with.  This is talks about a power bar for a more powerful system.  Just saying you're not really comparing apples to apples (unless the XB1 Scorpio comes out without a power brick).  And for all we know the power brick for the PS4 Neo could be a small one like they've used for the PS2 slim or handhelds.

I'd probably go with the higher end as well.  $499 is decent price.  If it was $599 then we're looking closely as it was PS3 launch all over again xD

$499, allow 60fps/1080p as a standard to become a reality on consoles.

Although the asking price is very high, I doubt it will stay that way for very long. Anyone care to explain why a new CPU would cost $99?
