Yeah that's what I heard too, I think the only multiplayer thing you can do is name planets (and species?) that you find first. Also OP, that reddit thread is a lot more positive then I thought it was going to be.

The problem is how Sean approached the question. "Can I see other players in NMS?"

"That's not what the game is about, chances are really really low" etc.

He could have just said "No", but idk, that's not good for the multiplayer crowd that wants the game?

I mean, gamers were also really obnoxious. Multiple times it was denied, and they kept asking. And people still believe there is a legitimate chance...

That's true, they should have been more consistent from the beginning, but considering it was not advertised as a multiplayer game I don't quite understand the outrage. Oh, well.

On most online games, there are more then just one server and if both isn't on the same server they will not see each-other. What they need to check is if there is any server at all.

PSN: Opticstrike90
Steam: opticstrike90

How in heck did they do it?

I just left the planet to and try and find my son.  This map is beyond ridiculously big.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

I am on the other side of my sig....am I warm or cold?

Marco....

They are in the same place but at different times

Considering everything that has been said about the game, I don't think these two players can't interact at all. It's not a server issue, it's the fact that the game is supposed to be played solo.

if you actually can't interact with other players then this game fails on so many levels. We're talking about an open giant SPACE game, with tons of planets, space combat, exploration. The concept of meeting up with friends or players you meet (especially when its supposed to be uncommon thing) is really necessarily for such a giant game, otherwise you feel like its a hollow shell of an experience. So- all of these NPC's and planets but no other players?

and as far as I know you WERE supposedly supposed to be able to see other players, anyone playing on like PC with you

He never, ever should have alluded to anything in the game being multiplayer, because if people could have even remotely thought they could meet up in game they would try it. A bunch of BS in the end.

they did more than 'alluding', they said that it would be rare but that you COULD meet up with other players and interact.... sounds like misadvertising. It wasn't advertised as a multiplayer game per say but it was stated that you could involve other players. I mean whats the point of racing to the center of the galaxy if you wont' see other people

The plot thickens... (Got it from Neogaf)

I am hoping this is a fake...

Given it's also marked as 1 player, i'd assume that's just a printing error. That's not to say they did or didn't lie about [x] or [y], i really have no idea (I've not been following NMS), but those two labels seem somewhat contradictory.

Some users showing their true colours. Sad!

Yeah we need more info before we jump to conclusions. Either we need an official statement from the devs or we need to confirm the situation with more players with the same issue.
