That's weird then, I doubt the game you bought had a discount right?

Maybe in Europe you all have that benefit  :/

Secret Files: Tunguska is normally €9.99, but was 50% off, so €4.99. I guess it's possible that this was circumstancial and only works if a discounted game is €4.99. Or that it only applies to Europe.

Perhaps I should look through the NES games that are available on Wii U and buy one of them. It has to be something I want though, because I am not going to buy one randomly just to see if it results in gold coins.

Oh that's the reason. When having a discount the original price is what is considered. Last month I bought two games at $1 each and received my points.

Even when a game is bought at discount, the original price is what nets you the gold coins.
The 10 coins you got were based on the 9.99 price.

Interesting. So the reward system has basically a bug that Nintendo isn't aware of?

In that case I might buy The Swapper the next time it's available for €1-3, because even if it sucks, I'll get gold coins that are worth as much as the price I paid.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Yeah I can confirm the coins you get are based on the original price, not the discounted price. I bought splatoon during the e3 sale for like $40 and it still gave me 60 coins. I don't know if it's intended or a bug but it certainly gives me more incentive to buy games.

The Swapper for €1 was a great deal. Should have jumped on it then.

It gives more incentive to buy games at discount prices, yeah, I agree.
And use the My Nintendo rewards to net more coins... rinse and repeat.

Yes! Games with huge discounts. And what do you mean? You get more coins for the games you get as rewards? Because I used some of the coins to get pikmin dlc but that gave me nothing.

Oh damn i forgot about that when i sold my Wii U. I have 50 gold points and they expire in December so ill probably never use them. Well if anyone wants a gamecode for the games that are 50 gold points or less just pm me and ill get you the code.

Lol, I'm pretty sure it's not a bug.

And precisely, I was trying to remember which games I bought last month and one of them was the Swapper $1. The other was Pumped BMX+ which I recommend (with discount)

Maybe not a bug, but whatever you want to call it, I find it very weird. At times there are 75% discounts on $50 games, so it's possible to get a lot of gold coins for paying very little. I am not complaining because it's great for customers, but it's just plain weird.

I guess the idea is to give extra motivation to spend money on the eShop, but in that case there should be at least a dozen of offerings that you can trade gold coins for at any given time. Otherwise the gold coins will be hoarded instead of being used.

The Pikmin DLC's original price is lower than the gold coin threshold.

Yeah, the original price counts. OlliOlli Wii U + 3DS + 20 gold coins for 1€ wasn't a bad deal a few weeks ago, lol.

There are 11 shitty 3DS games published by MSL discounted to 1€ instead of 11,99€ until August 25.
So 220 gold coins for 11€ if you want. Enough for 2 N64 or 3 SNES/GBA games. There are no good VC games at My Nintendo at the moment, but I'm sure there will be new ones soon.
