Most forms of post-processing AA make certain games blurry messes in my opinion.

Definitely bloom, I hate that shit. The last thing I need in a video game is bad visibility.

Chromatic aberration by a country mile, followed by the DoF, Bloom and Lens flair.

Every game that uses CA means I have to go about modding it out because the visual image becomes too blurry for me to notice much, with DoF I always turn that off because I don't like the simulation of what it feels like for someone who is already blind without his glasses.

Bloom is terrible. Thankfully it's an effect that is used less often these days in favor of better techniques.

I don't get the reason behind chromatic aberration. It looks stupid and adds nothing to the experience. So far, dying light uses it and you can't deactivate it.

Lens flare/ dirt effect can also be really annoying if it goes to far. I think my monitor is dirty and I have to clean it up.

PC gamers over on Steam ahd to complain for nearly a eyar to finally get Techland to notice that there was no option, people were modding the effect out but not being able to play co-op/PVP and they eventually threw in an option to disable it.

As far as things go for CA it's really not emant to be used for anything else. The film industry uses it for some odd reason as well as the gaming one in recent years, though with photography it is meant to simulate an old camera effect, though not many even use to effect as much as others that have been around for decades. CA just seems to be the enw hip effect for game devs to use, last gen it was bloom/lens flare.

During the 2000s, it was definitely bloom (on consoles). It looked so god damn ugly and overblown. Its application is getting better and more subtle.

It depends how it's done. Mass Effect added an annoying overlay on top of the whole screen. If used correctly to make darker areas look a bit more grainy then it can be quite tasteful.

Good use of bloom, natural lens flare and atmosphere heightening grain.

Unfortunaltely the same game also felt this was good use

Funny how it says HD... Nonsense crack in the lens, blocky distortion, terrible CA, overdone grain.
Actually the grain is the most believable as that's what I get with my digital HD camera in dark conditions, however it can also automatically drop all the way down to 12fps to get more light per image, they forgot to do that lol. Digital noise still looks different.
