Finally the boring tennis match is over so the main event can begin.

What's the main event?

Really wish people in this thread would say what event they're talking about more often, with so many going on it's not really possible to guess

It's the women's tennis final. For the first time since Steffi Graf in 1988 that a German player has the chance to win gold.

I've been watching sports all my life, pretty much all kinds of sport. I do not know anyone or have never met someone IRL who is as "hardcore" as me when it comes to sports. Regardless of the sport, I admire the participants and their efforts, training, willpower, passion...the will to compete. Summer Olympics and especially Athletics, is the greatest moment in sports for me. Now then...I see this thread and I get straight up excited because maybe I could find people who share my passion and talk about the Olympics, together. Ok, so I skip straight to the last page (muscle memory I guess) and what do I find...What the fuck am I reading? I cannot believe this is the Olympic experience for some people or in this case, for this one guy.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Olympic games are always about nationalism, like every international sports event. If Germany wouldn't be as decent in the games as they are I wouldn't give a flying fuck about it.

doesn't look like she has what it takes to win it tbh

Puig looks much more like the worlds #2 than Kerber does atm

Now the real olympics starts. :)

Nothing wrong with that, I understand people want to cheer and support their own countrymen but it is still the individuals or groups effort, nationality itself cannot perform because it is abstract. People can change nationality but they cannot change themselves, a person can be many nationalities in his/her lifetime but only be that one person. Thus the argument of genetic superiority tied to nationality falls apart. (Rant was not pointed at you)

I just find it disgusting some people see Olympic Games as a weapon.

Looks a lot better now.

edit: I retract my previous statement.

yeah you're ok..... not as good as GB again obviously, despite your bigger population.

Only natural though. GB is never distracted by football success so they have more time to engage in lesser sports.

nah a bit better and ofc she won the set, but Kerber plays "wait and see" low risk tennis, almost exclusively hoping for her opponent to make an error, while Puig is actually trying to outplay her for direct points - that's the kind of tennis I want to see from a top10 athlete not that lame stuff from Kerber

Monica Puig just won Gold!!! Very happy about this, first time my country has won a gold medal in the World Olympics ever, so she made history. She's very humble and deserves this, at the Juegos CentroAmericanos, she said she was gonna win 1st place for Puerto Rico and ended up 3rd. She was devastated when that happened and now she's given us something better with this win :D No doubt it's the only medal we're getting, but that's enough for us.
