Netflix has been fucking killing it with their series'. This one was amazing. Loved every second of it. Atmostphere, character, pacing, setting... everything was top notch. And those kids have to be the best kid actors i've ever seen. Thank god season 2 has been confirmed. They're planning it to be darker but with the same sense of fun. I get the feeling Steve is going to die.

And that soundtrack though. :O

Well, it was 400 minutes and I watched it all without stopping, so, yes, it is not bad

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Great show. Got a little worried they were going stereotypical with the love triangle, but they fixed it in the end. The only thing that truly comes damn close to ruining the series for me is the CG.

Why in the heck would you spend so much money creating a good atmosphere, meticulous detail to look like the 80s and pay homage to that era, but resort to using CG for your monster? It almost breaks the immersion. I was just thinking of how great and fucking scary that would have been to see the monster coming out of the wall, completely done practical, like they would have done in the 80's (they even have a couple watching The Thing, a masterpiece of practical effects.) Instead I'm comparing it to the new Nightmare movie and thinking how it only looks a little better than when Freddy was pushing through the wall.

Just watched the first episode, definitely hooks you right in

Also the monster design is not that good, but all the rest is amazing. I agree with you, the CGI monster is the worst part by far, the monster in general.  But man, what a show.

Haven't seen it. Trying to convince my wife to watch it. She doesn't like scarier shows. How much horror or intense elements does it have?

Very little horror, it is like Goosebumps level of horror, and very little gore also, it is 90% atmosphere and mood, it reminds me a lot of Goonies, ET and Can´t Buy me Love.

It was very good. Some of the kids got on my nerves though, especially the main one and Lucas.

May contain light spoilers:

That is what makes the show great: some kids are really annoying in real life too, and kids sometimes are pretty dumb in their decisions, as we see some of them judging things in a wrong way also.

The frustration we feel in the show is what makes us grounded in it, it gives a lot, then it takes away a little, it is a stroke of genious.

I give you a example: Lucas thinks 11 is evil, and acts like a jerk, he is afraid. Then, it is satisfaying when he realizes she is just a scared kid like himself.

Also, the camera guy likes the skinny girl, but she really digs the rich idiot, that is interesting. It kinda makes us angry, but we also think "well, that is life for you..."

Maybe but noticed how they flipped the trope on the boyfriend or the cop? The boyfriend never made me angry because you could see that he was nuanced. Not just your regular movie/TV douche. I wish they did that with the kids - make them less like kids in movies or real life. As far as kids with cringeworthy acting though, they were pretty good. Especially when you think of the kids in Jurassic World, War of the Worlds or The Phantom Menace.

Yes, kids are always the hard part, LET ME IN is a good exception, those kids are amazing...

I'm watching it right now because I've been meaning to for a while, but you should know that the kids in this movie don't even compare to the kids in the original this remake is based off of called "let the right one in". Let me in seems to have better cinematography, but the acting doesn't compare.
And these guys made a few weird decisions in script and in their personalities. I dunno, watch the original, you'll see what I mean.

ugh. I just watched the first time she kills. Man. This movie is so try-hard, and not in a good way. Makes me want to just watch the original instead.

I looked up the wiki and agree with what one of the critics said about it:
""makes obvious all that the original film made subtle and does so with less complexity."

Another thing I really dislike about this remake is how they make the caretaker seem like he's filled with anger toward the girl. I don't like that decision. The original made him out to be a father who cares about her and is willing to sacrifice despite how fucked up it is. He doesn't lay a guilt trip on her every time.

If I could summarise the remake and the original succinctly, I would describe the original as being like Jaws, and the remake as like Jaws if they had showed the shark.
It's like the original star wars compared to the remastered version with the cgi.
It's like M Night's Shamalyans 6th sense versus everything else he did.

Also, in the original, she's a cat... and now she's a vampire? That was kind of stupid.
